I need some help my modem is sick.........................

When I boot my windows and want to dail up to internet.
There is appear error : Error 680: There is no dialtone
Make sure your modem is connected to the phone line properly.
Then I turn my modem off and turn on again and dail up "IT WORKING!!!" If I lost my connect I have to turn off and turn on again.I using win98 and Jaton Explorer V.90 ex

Go in properties of your modem and make sure "wait for dial tone" is unchecked.That is the only possible solution I can think.

Is it always connecting on the second go or is it at random? If its at random maybe you need to have the gain on your line adjusted.
