Check this article at Anadtech.. It tests the new Athlon Polomino cores named Athlon XP with SSE..
This thing is faster than the P4 2 gig.. I gotta get me one of those.. Imagine the performance of this monster overclocked to 1.6 gigs and higher.. :)

AMD's New PR system confuses me....
i.e: Athlon XP 1800+ is actually a 1.5 GHz one, and so on...
other than that, Kudos to AMD for Athlon XP relese!

Well, what I get from the article is that the 1800+ simply means that the amd athlon xp 1.53 gig is suppose to have performance similar to a 1.8 gig P4.. But by the looks of the benchmarks, it goes beyond the 2.0 gig P4.. Check how the lowest athlon xp the 1.33 gig can outperform most of the P4's..

It's a constant struggle for dominance. Except now AMD has Intel's fabulous SSE technology, and the performance benefits show. After weeks, AMD's finally made their move, beating the P4 2 Ghz, the next move goes to Intel (probably with the Northwood P4 2.2 Ghz).
The PR system was re-instituted because AMD simply cannot compete with the Pentium 4 on the basis of clock speeds, although their chips provide the superior performance. It isn't the best or most honorable strategy and it seems both Anandtech and Tom's Hardware cry foul at it.

and also the new chipset for mother board is been release by nvdia but lot of stability problem but they said its fast really fast

The non integrated video solution is great but the integrated video nForce is not so good.. Via kt266a is about just as fast as the top of the line nForce and in a few cases, a little faster..
Personally I would rather get the Abit KG7 raid.. Here is what I would get.. Come this Christmas I might just have it..
Amd Athlon Xp 1.53 gighertz( probably will OC it to 1.6 or up)
Geforce 3 Ti 500 agp
Voodoo 5 5500 pci
512 megs DDr Sdram 133/266 mhz (probably will OC it to 166/333 mhz)
Abit KG7 raid (this thing is loaded with features)

nVidia does not have experience in chipset area, but I'm sure in the future they will release a more competitive and powerful chipset.
Athlon 1800+, according to AMD, is the clock that a Thunderbird would have to get the same speed as the new cpu, but everybody knows that the truth is that 1800 is the P4 equivalent, although tests have proven that a Athlon 1800+ is fairly better than a P4 2.0 GHz.
fivefeet8, nice pc you're planning to buy.
