New PS2 compact

I want to buy a new PS2 console but since theres a new version coming out I dont know which I should buy, the compact version has a built-in net adapter but dont support HDD ...
also I wonder if I could put a Chip in the new PS2 - if the chip will be compatibile with it the new console.

So should I wait to the new PS2 and buy it or should I wait and get the original PS2 at cheaper price ?

Well FYI the new PS2 will be retailing at the same price as the Playstation 2's are now. Not more expensive as some people think - Unless the old model PS2's ae in a pawn shop or something :p

If you aren't gonna play FFXI than get the new PS2. It is 75% smaller and has built in wifi :) So no need for another bulky thing for your PS2.

As for the "chip" I am guessing you're asking of a mod chip. Well the answer is probably one will be made for the new PS2 (PStwo) very soon, but we try our best not to discuss mod chips, as they are illegal and some countries and are in a sort of grey area. Hope that answers your questions ;)

Nope, a new PSTwo, called the PSTwo, it's like the "PSOne" was in relation to the PlayStation; smaller, cooler, and not yet cracked. I have seen some pics floating around the net about a external HD case, so support for a HD maybe possible. My PS2 burnt out just the other day, I was so happy as I bought a warranty.

Well here in israel Chips are kinda legal ... stores sales them in bundles with the PS2 and other stuff, also you get gurantee for all the components you buy ...
another question about the new PS2, dont you think that the currant chips will be compatiable with the PStwo ? and does any one know what bios and Version the new PS2 has ?

I can guarentee that the chips won't be compatible with the new model PS2. Since Sony revamped all the internals - shrinking them, changing things etc ... Even though it's still a PS2 and still has the same specs the chips out won't work.

yea, it is very possible that it can't be modded at all since Sony could have easily combined a lot of functions into one IC thus leaving no connection points for a mod to intercept.

The PS2 is already hella hard to mod, Knowing Sony's view towards mod chips, I wouldn't doubt that Sony made it even more difficult - if not impossible as dpence said.

They have a few in my local wally world, $178 no game!! I damn near pooped my pantaloons. Why are they still so expensive? The GC right next to it was $139 WITH Metriod Prime, and the XBox was $219 with TWO games! Come on Sony, get with the picture here. I was gonna pick one up for GT4 soon, but not at that price with no bundled game...

In Japan Sony is planning to bundle GT4 with the new model PS2, So i'm sure that deal will be here sometime after Christmas.

Im from israel and everything is very expensive here :( its why almost any1 in this country using illegal stuff like MP3 downloading movies and games ..

hat is pretty crazy. I mean, Canadian dollars (which is on the rise in value) a PS2 costs 199.99 so US that would be near $149.99. So your price is very high. But shipping into your country is probably wha costs a lot of money.

Depending where you look here in Canada, a PS2 can sometimes be found as low as $158. Very rarely however, and pretty much only for sales, like Wal-Mart just had. Still the local Wal-Mart has the new PSTwo for $178, which is better then $199, still sucks with no game. They had 3 of them yesturday, and now they are all gone, some people will pay anything.

Well Canada isn't too bad. You don't have people on your as about downloading music and such. Modchips are kinda a grey area like NGEMU :p Canada is really accepting of other peoples cultures and they aren't a melting-pot country like the states.

I even heard from my aunt that lives in michigan that there is a curfew (I dont know how to write it) there are patrol cars of police crusing the city and if you are under the age of 18 and you in the streets after midnight they arrest you and take you to your home ..
it totally sux ! here even kids that are 13 wonder the streets at 4am ..

theres a burger king, I order a meal which is very very cheap at the states not like here .. (when I think on it everything is cheaper there) so I order something , now you can fill your drinks on your own, so as being a smart israeli I bought the smallest cup and filled it as long as I wanted, who will buy extra large cups when you can fill it over and over and over ? except when they want it for the road - even that is stupid because you should take a bottle for the road so it wont spill out !
also there was a place where the had 4 cash registers, where you pay, so 1 was empty the second was with 3 the third with 5 and the forth with 6, now Im amazed ! I see people coming and going to the 5 and 6 people lines, why I asking myself and the only thing I can think off is that those stupid americans think that because the lines is longer it means its better ....

We love the way people pass judgement on all Americans, and have never even set foot in the country. All you ever here is "I heard this" and "Someone told me that". Why don't you learn to experience things on your own, and then pass judgement.

If America is so bad..then why is it that so many people come into it? They come here for a better life. There will always be a few who come to America, learn to enjoy it's freedoms, and then complain about everything. Yet not a one of them ever goes back to their native country. Why is that? If you are so convinced that America and Americans are so bad, then make a call to the millions of Israeli immigrants, and convince them to go back ;)

Atleast from a Mexican point of view the Us are not seen as a land where mexicans can get a better life but a place where they can get money so they can get a better life in Mexico :lol: It's the land of opportunity to get money, not to live there in a permanent way. I just got the new PSTwo. Some buddies of mine fixed the return for me, so I got it for $30 after I returned my busted one. It's a SCPH-70012 CB, and that's about it, other than model numbers, you would have no way of telling the differnece if they were hidden from view.

I was useing a 3ed party muti-tap mainly cause it was also a av slecte, but the new pstwo's have the memory card port come out more so you can't plug it in. I just took of the case my muti-tap was in an now it works fine, does anyone think that that will be a problem? It gets it's power from the PSTwo, so it's not like it can send back a kick, I don't think...

but they do have internal adapter and they small ..
