You are totally right, I misunderstood the word "or" for the totally different word "and".
My picture was less than 19.5kB, therefore the rule (note) said it was allowed.

While this would be desirable (among other automated measures, including to curb sig linkdrop spam), externally hotlinked pictures dont get resized. Only ones uploaded to ngemu's server (limits for uploads has always been lower than the general limits allowed if hosting elsewhere).

On an aside, GD resizing large pictures produces lower quality resized pictures (with higher compression ratio) compared to directly resizing them before uploading.

I believe that might have extended down to supermods at one point, if not regular moderators. I don't think it was ever that high in resolution/size, maybe 125x125 or 100x100 back when regular members were limited below that. Then again, the last time I looked up the differences was 4+ years ago.

Yeah, took a quick photo when I saw your post.

This one was taken on a bit of an angle making it look less wide then it really is.
