4)PS will convert ALL frames into individual layers. Even a repeated frame will count as a seperate layer.
5)Make sure the Animation tab is open. If done correctly, the timing for the frames will be imported in as well.

In PS CS4, it sucks even more because you WILL lose timing. Here are the steps:
1)File > Open as
2)In the dialog box, choose QuickTime Movie. Then type in the name of your gif.
3)PS will open it as a video Smart Object.
4)Now at the Animation tab's menu, choose Flatten Frames into Layer.

I knew that as it can be deducted from here :P:

I mainly miss IR for the lack of a proper way to open gif's in PS. I know there is a workaround in the newer versions but the import option can su... hard it doesn't always import as it should, plus if with IR when you opened up a gif and it maintained transparency, if i remember right, with PS no such thing it adds a white background to each layer...

I was talking about transparency CS3/CS4 don't import transparent gifs right and they add a white BG to it (and in some cases don't open gifs correctly at all).

As can be seen in this conversation :P:

Yeah CS5 is nice but when working with keyboard shortcuts it can happen to lose focus for some strange reason thus needing to reclick somewhere in the current photoshop window... Nice avatar, Sig concept also ain't bad but imo it might look better if it was wider and with a lower height, in the process maybe moving "Makotech" more towards the center or reducing its size but anyway that's just me :P.
