I finally found some free time and patience to make my first serious try at a sig banner.

I am aware of the forum rules regarding these sigs, so I'm not sure if this one is approved, due to dimensions and filesize (I wanted it much larger, but noooo :D).

However, I will not put it in my sig before I've done a nice and fitting avatar aswell. So while that's not done yet, could you people give me your opinions and if an admin/mod sees it, tell me if it's fine to place in my sig or not? Thanks. :)

Its looks awesome, but you're about 10k over the filesize limit (no biggie, easily optimized ..) and about 100px too high :p but it may pass since most of the excass pixels are blank for the transparncey effect ..

Anyway, if any admin/mod has a problem with my sig, I'll change it ASAP to a temporary one, until I made a new version that both fits the rules AND my taste like a charm :p

well the sig limits are 500x120 IIRC,but we give people a bit of slack. just trim its height a bit and it should be fine :)

I've made changes to my sig, and made a quick avatar last night out of another screenshot I made.

This post (http://www.ngemu.com/forums/showthread.php?p=695290#post695290) shows the change between my current new sig and the first version.

I'm not completely happy about my avatar yet, I think I'll make some more changes to it, or even animate it. The avatar is just like my sig a first serious attempt.

Thank you. I'm very glad with the result :)

The edges were made in Photoshop. I used one of the Eraser forms with an opacity of 100% to make cuts on the background layer, and once again with 30% opacity to enhance the effect of the cuts. I had to mirror the layer once to create the exact same effect on the other side as I couldn't find a way to mirror my eraser, after which I mirrored it back. After that, I accidently found out that giving it an outer glow gave a very desirable added effect, which is what you see now.

Although it's much more clear in the hires version. :D

ok... to solve this little argument... either you guys dont know proportions well or cameras suddenly stopped taking good pictures... take a look:

1st image: Original Picture... not scaled or anything
2nd image: Original Picture, scaled, EVENLY, meaning 99x99 = 33x33 for example
3rd image: razors picture
4th image: my picture...

now compare 2 and 3, and 2 and 4... youll notice that while the head height is about right for razors image... it is tooo thick in it as well, meaning its supposed to be a longer head

How'd you make your images small without sacrificing quality? I ussually save as .GIF, but what quality setting are you guys using for .JPEG saving in Photoshop?

save with adobe imageready... it can optimize file size for you or you can tinker around completely with the settings manually

and if your optimizing a gif...just lower the amount of colors you use...most of the times it doesn't make a big difference but then other times it pretty much messes it up....

that's a pretty good picture, blended in rather well i would say although IMO the colors are a bit obnoxious (yellow tint oO ). too big for a sig too :p

but glad to see you are getting the hang of photoshop.

Yea? It is a whole bunch of filters and effects that can be applied to any image. You can download Actions from the web. ;) They are usually used for text. And no I am not talking about Styles. :p

erm, first off you know widescreen doesnt mean they stretch the screen right? :p and partially yes partially no, it was cut, but i added in the black lines on the top and bottom on purpose to give it that dvd look :p

to tell you the truth, it really reminds me of matrix revolutions :p the scene where neo is about to fight smith in a field of smiths :p
