Try using an ordinary backround from a game or something and blurring it so you can't see much detail. Then put him in front of it to make him stand out and look like theres a distance behind him. Create a new blank layer (transparent) and put the scanline on there. Then fill it by 50% to see how that looks.

Also: We have 30,300 views! But theres only 25,379 members?

I think that will be fine. But usually the bigger the resolution the harder it is to get to 20kb with it still retaining quality. ;)

phshaw i prolly have that many alone :p anyways, the important thing is that theres a sense of co-ordination to the whole picture... foreground and background should be similar in some ways, like razor said a good idea would be to make the background an image from wherever that guy is from

500x100, IIRC, is the board size limit so it's perfect size :)

although a lot of people bend the rules :agree:

If anyones mad about 20k small sigs, you should check out this one forum I used to go to. They allowed 300+K HUGE Sigs, 600+ width and length(in pixels).

The smaller sigs are a breath of fresh air :)

4MB, jesus, that took me like almost an hour. I can't connect faster than 28.8k because my house is 30+ years old the the phone wiring is old and crappy. :eyemove:

Mines 192up/3500 down. DSL is like 1500down, 192up, so I may lose some speed but I'd save alot of money. Plus they give you a free DSL modem.

Yes, I'm happy with the way it's turned out. The longest part was the tedious removal of the background. The avatar needs some work now; it was only thrown together in ~1 minute.

i like the first and last...and hybrid...i believe your just not supposed to surpass a total of 600 pixels (500x100, 150x450) stuff like that so that should be fine...i think...but 210 seems a bit tall...might aggrivate some people

What N1ghtw0lf said. Just as long as it doesnt look too out of proportion with the site. Remember some people are still using low resolutions, so something too wide or tall may look funny. :p

The size is pretty stupid, almost any sig can be crunched down to 20-25 kb without losing quality, and even less if you let go of a tiny bit of quality ..

The height is kinda huge, like i said, admins look away if its 120,125 .. but 160\200 ? thats kinda overdoing it ..

Well, most people have a lot of text aswell as an image. When I increased the height, I got rid of the text and made sure that it wasn't to big (file size). Around 25KB.

Well, new avatar and sig for me, both animated. The sig looks decent, albeit a small tad ugly, what with KB size limits, but the avatar shouldn't look too bad.....Anyway, enjoy! (If you can)

It's from the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Trailer.....took forever to d/l on modem, BTW.....Where Cloud is in his vehicle-thingy :p (doesn't really look quite like a motorcycle) and the text says, "Do you really believe that?"

Right around that bit, these two people are shooting at Cloud, which is where I got the images from. I tried to use the Sephiroth shooting bit, but the screen moves too much during it to make it possible to create a decent animated shooting scene with it, so.....

Anyway, I spent a couple of hours on the bloody thing trying to get a nice compression/quality ratio, while still keeping the animation looking decent, although I eventually had to make it 3 frames instead of 4.....and it's still 25 kb!

My Yuna "ass" sig (pardon my french) was fine. No one had a major problem with it, where they would ask me to take it down. CK's sig is fine with most people it seems and I don't beleive he has been asked to take it down. Now I didnt see hybrids sig so I dunno what was sooo wrong with it. But if it revealed any nipples, breasts or other areas of nudity I think it should be taken down. 1/8th of an ass cheek never killed anyone. No one asked me to take it off.

Exactly some of us do care in another sense. I care about the fact that all members (admins included) should be treated equal and not based on personal preference when it comes to rules. This means it shouldn't be ok for one, yet not ok for another because so and so thinks he is a lamer or whatever the description may be. I can understand it is out of your hands, we all know that, but it still doesn't make it right one way or another. I am in no position to say what goes and doesn't go either, but I do have a voice and I will speak up if I feel something is not fair. As far as the sig goes that is something that would need to be dealt with by the admins, but also should reflect all content including sigs, threads, and whatever else is on the forums .. well back to my original point. Some of us do care just as you, but in another sense as I explained. That can also be seen as not fine and a problem.

We did discuss this matter privatly in the admin discussion,.To say the truth, I am not very fond with those types of sigs, including CK's , althought thats my own opinion. I even follow the same avatar and sig dimensions members have , even when I do have the apportunity to have an avatar larger than 85x85 or a sig bigger than 500x100. People probably wont care about this,but If I ever had to ask anyone to follow the rules, I make sure that I follow them myself,...at least thats what I think

I don't idolize her, or use her as a role model,(I'm a guy) I'm simply a "fan" of hers:). If anyone listens to rap you'd know what "Rubber Band Man" is:). Well, it just really got me frustrated how your sig remained active for so long, after we had already came to a decision on such things, and it is clearly stated in the rules.
