What do you guys think of the update?
It's amazing, I love the controller rumbling features. My Xbox Controller is great with the emulator :). It feels great feeling that controller rumble.

pretty good, though it seems like an intermediate release, just a small preview of things to come in .3, which makes things even more exciting :D

its pretty good i think still has the glitch for nvidia cards in sonic adventure 2 but alass it still runs much faster then it did before and it looks like there getting closer for the realse tht reads actrul dreamcast disks which im looking foward to.

I see only one bad thing in this release ->>>> vms importer crashed once :)
Edit : Well actually 2 bad things, the controler setup keep reseting each time you load a game :/ pretty annoying

I'm not having any of the controller problems, although it rumbles everytime I start the emulator which causes me to almost jump out of my chair.
1280x1024 fullscreen looks nice. It's a framerate hit, so if you have a game running too fast, try running in a higher res.
Kasumi never gets old. (http://users.nac.net/rikk/Kasumi1.jpg) She's been my background ever since I got DOA2 way back when and found the swimsuit pictures on the disc. 8)

I posted a semi-fix in the thread regarding it. By using the old_gfx version it removes some of the junk displayed in wireframe so its easier to see around the levels.
I haven't noticed a speed increase as my computer was playing the games full speed in the first release.

It's a great release indeed but I'm still waiting for some speed optimizations :/
The MK Gold is GREAT news tough, gonna borrow it again! :)

Yea. I used to pray people would optimize stuff to run on my old MX440 too...

YAY!
Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 looks unbelievably sexy on my 17" LCD in full screen. :eyemove: And it because it's full screen, the game actually runs full speed for ALMOST all the time.

Indeed a great release, even though I'm waiting for the FPS limit option so games can play at original speed :)

You can cheat. Set your refresh rate to 60, go full screen and turn on vertical synch.

Don't update the chankast_input.dll, this is the controller config file, the old file is better.

flickers too much for me, but yes it's an option...

Don't update the chankast_input.dll, this is the controller config file, the old file is better. You can use the controller plugins from both 0.10 and 0.20 versions of the emulator (both of them are included in the latest distributable). You can do it from the plugin configuration tab.
BTW: Hi guys (and ladies) :)

It kinda works. I have trouble facing the screen at that rate.

The fact that it seems to run faster is a plus for me. I can at least get a consistent 50 fps average if i overclock the SH4 CPU to 120 now.

it's not working at all for me... .2 worked fine but .25 resets itself back to the bios when i try to play a game.

I've been around during the refresh debates of old (think 3dfx) but it was my understanding that the more action on screen, more notably, the amount of action that some games can produce, won't bother your eye as much as, say, staring at a maximized Notepad with a white background.
In my case, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 doesn't cause me much pains. Then again I have an LCD DVI monitor so 60hz there is much different from my old CRT.

I've had that problem before. Delete the files vms, dc_bios, and dc_flash. Then put fresh copies of dc_bios and dc_flash back into the Chankast folder. The emulator will create another vms file when you run it again.

Metal Harbour is another one (if you manage to get past the first loop).

New version came, but I have a problem with it - it works slower. Well, maybe its in case that I bought and pluged radeon 9800pro. Drivers are 4.2 version. Now I'm downloading the latest drivers for my new gfx card to test chankast(and other games too :) ).
btw, anyone knows how can I play Chao Adventure 1,2 in SA1,2 in new version

I've downloaded latest 4.7 catalyst drivers and now Chankast works at full speed. But I still want to know how to play VMU mini-games :???:, if its possible (Chao Adv.1,2)

Hello everyone. I am just curious...what's the latest on chankast netplay support? Can we utilize or take advantage of games that were coded with online or "matching service" play? I would LOVE to be able to the DC version of Super Puzzle Fighter II against other poeple via the PC.

the emu is still on alpha status...
if i were of the team i would concentrate first on making the emu more compatible/faster/less glitch/whatever, and after all that were done i would make the netplay thing.
thk god im not in the team ;)

[hijack] What is DVI? I know it's a different way of getting an image from the graphics card to the monitor, but what exactly is the advantage of it?
Razor Blade
July 20th, 2004, 05:16
Instead of being Digital to Analog, it is pure Digital to Digital resulting in a better picture. Honestly it isn't worth the money ($60.00 for a cable) Plus you have to have a recent GPU card to make it work, and the DVI converters aren't the same as a true DVI cable.
If you have the money to burn go for it, but I tried them both and I see no difference.

Hey I heard out here (before Chankast .25 was released) that they would optimize the emulator to run on PCs under 800-700 MHz. But it hasn't been so. Anyways I can only hope that .3 (or whatever) release fixes this because I have a PIII 866 MHz. Speaking of which, when is there going to be an update? Getting restless :hmmm:
D.Strange
August 2nd, 2004, 20:15
He-he, you can continue dreaming about optimizations for ~800Mhz PC`s ;) - i think its totally impossible, and authors said what it will be nice and MAYBE in the future(not in the near) its will be done...
And stop asking about next release - is will be released then its done.

Yeah don't ask about future releases.. to show any kind of interest in future development of Chankast is completely insane and impolite. You should be 100% satisfied with what is out now and never care about what tomorrow may bring. To do so is very MEAN. You asked one time already in this thread about an update and I think that's more than enough.
(sarcasm? I'm soaking in it!)
