There's been some discussion over at the epsxe forum about how Armored Core cannot be played in multiplayer vs mode because the game thinks there's a link cable connected and refuses to go into split screen mode.

There are three prospective solutions to this problem.

Solution 1. find an emulator that doesn't have this problem. I tried this. No existing emu except VGS solves this problem. Comercial emulation is not an option for most people. This is not a solution.

Solution 2. Write a cheat. I'm not sure if this is even possible, but people can do wonders with writing cheats. Hacking out the hidden dev Citadel level in Goldeneye is an example of how cheats can be impressive. But I don't know how to write cheats.

Solution 3. Hack the source. Again, I'm not skilled enough to even know where to begin. But I'm betting that in order to solve this problem, someone skilled in emu programming is going to have to hack this source and recompile to solve this problem. I really wish someone would do this. If I knew how, I would have done it already and posted the patch here. I really love Armored Core multiplayer. It was one of the only reasons I bought a playstation back in the day. :(
