Well i had to wait about 4 years to get it coz the price was really high. now thats its come down, i finally have it :D heres what i got -

V10 PS2 Console (SCPH-50004 PAL)
Two Dualshock 2 Analoge Controllers
AV Cable
AC power cord
Demo Disk
User Manuals
8MB Memory Card

The seller also gave me 6 free PS2 DVDs of my choice. I chose

Soul Calibur 2
Gran Turismo 3
Devil May Cry
Onimusha 3
Ace Combat 4
Dark Cloud 2

well thats about it. now i have a few questions :p

1) Is SCPH-50004 the bios version or the console version? coz i saw everything with a SCPH code to it including controllers, memcards, etc.

2) The box has a small yellow triangle with a black "+" at the bottom right hand side. does that signify something or is it just for decoration :p

3) What does V10 stand for?

4) I paid about Rs.13700 for everything. thats about 315 US $. was the price OK?

Well I would say that is a decent price considering the games you got with it. SCPH-50004 is the bios your console uses. Their are SCPH numbers on controllers and stuff, but I usually dont pay much attention to it. As for 2 and 3, I have no clue what those things are.

I payed around the same price for my V(ersion)7 with build-in DMS3 modchip. But I don't have a clue about the + though.

ugh. i feel sorry for non americans. not to be a dick or anything, but really, i do sometimes. my friend's brother stepped on his PS2's drive tray so he had to get a new one. he got a SCPH-50001, IIRC (the newest one) with a network adapter (and maybe ATV offroad fury2 included...not sure) for $149.99 USD. im sorry to hear about having to pay 300 :(

edit: well. 6 games....not bad. but they are like $20 or less used here, that's what im used to ;)

well its not that bad. just 6 months ago, i would have had to pay 410 $ :p you gotta understand the gaming industry is in its infancy here. the PS2 was actually "officially" launched last year.

Thank god u chose DMC 1 instead of 2
yeah almost everyone i know thinks DMC1 is better than 2. DMC is also the first game i played on this console and man iam loving it :D

as for the "+" sign, i remember Sayed Fawad saying something about it in another thread. though i can't remember the name of that thread right now :(

i think the "+" stands for the built in remote control receiver. with the older ones like mine, u had to plug a reciever into one of the controller ports.

2) The box has a small yellow triangle with a black "+" at the bottom right hand side. does that signify something or is it just for decoration :p

I was under the impression the "+" on the box art was in relation to the ability to read DVD-/+ R disk.

Congrats on the adquisition... I myself would like to buy a PS2, but they cost in here what my mom makes in 1 month :p... so, nope, no PS2 until I graduate and get a job :p

That’s not 100% true. SCPH-50004 is the model number of your ps2. The last dight in the number your case the 4 as far as I know is related to the reagin in witch the console is sold in. given that SCEI stands for Sony Computer Entertainment Inc I’m guessing SCPH could stand for Sony Computer Product Header, just a guess mind you :D . In the end it's just Sony’s way of inventorying and keeping track of all there products and like you say not all that important to you and me.
