What is everyone's favorite movie? This is an off-topic thread after all right?

I personally don't have a single favorite movie but I love Grease, I could watch Hackers a thousand times in a row, same with The Fifth Element and I still crack up laughing eer time I watch the King of one liners, Bruce Campbell in The Army of Darkness and the origional 2 Evil Dead movies. But honestly I love lots of movies. How about all of you?

Okay, well, I was forced to come here along with CD, but I really can't think a favorite movie... There are too many that I like too much. Although, I've never actually seen the first 2 Evil Deads. Maybe that will be a good rental for this weekend. I guess my favorites are probably the Die Hards. Probably the series of movies that I've seen more than any other, at least.

Sandie

Actually Matrix 2 and 3 are being filmed simultaniously but production has been slowed by all kinds of things one of which was Carrie Ann Moss who plays Trinity hurt herself during stunt practice stuff. The filming is being done in Australia I think.
No one has said The Wizard of Oz yet! That was a good movie!

Oh, and BGnome is right... You can't call Attack of the Killer Tomatos a horrible movie. It's one of those that's so bad it's funny, which ends up making it good. :)

My fave is a movie called Iron Monkey. No it's not porn; it's kung fu. Any way it's choreographed and directed by Yuen Woo Ping. The same guy that did Matrix and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. He rulz. I'm biased towards all his movies though. Another good one by Yuen is Twin Warriors. Kung fu fans absolutly must check these out.

Oh yeah another favorite is Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I've seen it so many times and its still funny. "Oh what sad times are these when passing rufians can say Nee at will to old ladies.":D
Oh and don't forget Kids in the Hall's Brain Candy. there's just too many to name.

n0estoy
May 15th, 2001, 02:42
oh dude! i saw the iron monkey like last week. that movie is crazy, but it's awesome. heavily influenced by anime...or maybe influenced by whatever influenced anime...i dunno. but i loved watching em' jump from rooftop to rooftop. then that final showdown was just whack! one of the craziest kungfu movies yet. it was great!! you should also check out 'legend of the drunken master.' that was great too.

oooh, i also have to second 'Last of the Mohicans', and 'X-Men' (it was about time they made it into a movie)
I also loved the 'Matrix' and 'There's something about Mary' (i can't remember laughing so hard in a while)
The Die hard trilogy and Lethal Weapon set was great
Ninja Scroll (anime) was really good too, along w/ Princess Mononoke.
Oh, and Bad Boys!! u can't beat Martin Lawrence and Will Smith!!

Adair
May 15th, 2001, 08:32
Yep Legend of Drunken Master is good. I have it on tape along with ninja scroll and Princess Mononoke(bad copy). If you liked Iron Monkey then you gotta rent Twin Warriors a.k.a. T'ai Chi Master, and Fist of Legend. Both of them are choreographed by Yuen Woo Ping (Iron Monkey, The Matrix) and both star Jet Lee(one of the best action stars in Hong Kong). Fist of Legend's fight scenes are what first got the Wachowski brothers interested in Yuen Woo Ping to do Matrix Choreography. Anyway I like those Yuen Woo Ping movies from a couple of years ago because they're all wire work and no computers.

Adair: if you liked Jet Lee in Tai Chi Master (great film) I suggest you look for The Legend Of Fonf Sai Yuk and LOFSY2, bot of these films have some excellent fight scenes (and the films are quite funny too). And also The Prodigal Son is another very good film. I also bought Iron Monkey on DVD and I think it is nearly as good as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (which is excellent), aha! I also have Princess Mononoke too! What other fighting films do you have/have you watched.

(Oh, and you cant forget Jackie Chan films too!)

Oh, sorry, I forgot Romeo Must Die, another good Jet Lee film (and also includes Aaliyah, hot babe!)

Thanx for the recommendations, Uncle Clive

You asked for the list so here it goes:
I own the majority of films choreographed by Yuen Woo Ping(ranked from favorite to least fave.)
Iron Monkey
T'ai Chi Master
Fist of Legend
Black Mask
Iron Monkey 2
Tai chi 2 (both of theses sequals have nothing to do with the originals)
Last Hero In China
Buddhist Fist
Wing Chun
Heroes Among Heroes
Invincible Armor(I'm not really convinced this was done by Y W Ping but it says so on the box)
Snake in the eagles shadow

And I've seen some others by him
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon( My Favorite of all kung fu movies)
The Matrix
Drunken Master
Magnificent Butcher

I also own
My father is a hero(Pretty good movie with Jet Lee as modern day kung fu guy)
New Legend Of Shaolin (good movie similar to Y W Ping's style)
Once Upon A Time in China 3(another good wire fu movie)

And I must recommend
Once upon a time in china 1 & 2
Hard Boiled & The Killer(not kung fu. its modern day gun movies done by John Woo)
StormRiders( not exactly kung fu. If you could imagine a movie with the super power type stuff in Mortal Combat but alot better looking and set in a good story then that's close to what this movies like)

And of coarse I've seen too many Jackie Chan Films to mention, but I'll say my favorites are Legend of Drunken Master, Operation Condor 1&2, and some of his earlier stuff.

I'm sure there's more I can't think of right now. What a long list.

>i think the company almost went bankrupt since the car was
>expensive as hell to manufacture
Actually, they lost a good deal of face after the company's president was supposedly found to be something of a coke fiend. Though it's quite the conspiracy theroy, it's the belief of many that the accusation was put forth by the large automobile companies in order to ensure they'd have a future. Just imagine, a stainless steel car is likely to be nigh indestructible (within reason, of course); quite a change from the planned obsolescence inherent to the design of most cars.

It actually isn't all that new a theme, however, as the (in)famous Tucker cars were testament to.

I'm always a bit worried about comedies with trailers that aren't funny...And off-topic, but I also watched some movies yesterday, Mummy Returns and Titan A.E. Braveheart.

The country (scotland) is at war with the bad guys ( the English). The hero (Mel Gibson) doesn't what to have anything to do with it until he loses a loved one (his wife) to the hands of the bad guys (the english). He then proceeds to raise an army of ruffians and annoy the bad guys (the english)

For all you Kung Fu fans out there(especially CTHD fans) I recently heard about the new Yuen Woo Ping(fight choreographer) movie. Its directed by Tsui Hark. Its called the Legend of Zu and is a remake of Tsui Hark's first movie Zu: Warriors from the Magic Mountain. I don't think it has any big names actors in it, but that doesn't matter as long as Yuen Woo Ping is in charge of making them into badasses. I can't wait for it. If you want a list of some other Y.W. Ping movies then look for a long post by me near the bottom on the 2nd page of this thread.
