Btw Which N64 emulator is most compatible?Different sites provide different information on this one.

I've only used three N64 emu's, Ultrahle, Nemu and Corn. Most games I played where in Ultrahle, but when PSX emu went "mainstream" I kinda got out of it. Plus I already finished Zelda OT about 8 times so I also kinda gotten tired. So excluding the newer one's, Ill go for Ultrahle.:D

well, with the recent releases of pj64, n64 emulation suddenly became a lot more interesting, so you might want to give it another shot. Ultrahle became what bleem is for psx emulation.

I think Ultrahle is good.At first I was not able to use it (no glide 3dfx in intel 810 chipset)but recently I discovered those wrappers and it works nice.

Hey btw I guess Ultrahle screenshots can be posted in New generation screenshots, though its an old emulator but meets the criteria described.
May be I should ask someone first.

UltraHLE was the first and the best n64 emu. It had great graphics, good sound, fairly good compat(for the time), worked on slow computers. However, the authors never continued the development of the emu. According to them, they only wanted to prove that n64 emulation was possible, and they did it.

Corn is the one with the minimum requirements. Nemu has a high compat, but that's all(it seems that a new version of nemu is about to be released, after 2 years with no status update)

PJ64 is quite good, but requires a really powerful computer. A Pentium III 800, 128mb, Geforce is the minimum requirements.

Daedalus and Apollo are also good emus(Apollo's author, Azimer, recently left emulation scene). TRwin, TR64 seems to be on a "break" for almost an year, but they are quite good also.

After all, all of them have pros and con, and there is no one that plays everything or that can substitute all the others. You can't expect to find a ePSXe kind of n64 emu.

Yes, here it is ,good info from an expert. Thanks Zephon

I think the summary is "U can not always have ur cake and eat it too". :D

well, I've been watching n64 emus development for a long time, but since my computer is not very powerful, I had to download every small tool and test every emu/plugin to try to make games work on my Pentium2.

i use pj64 i think the compatibility is abou 65% of n64 roms, it gave me excellent graphics and frame rate, i see in another forum that is going to stop the development of PJ64 with the release v1.4 in a short time.

I coul play Zelda MoM with my intel 810 p3 800Mhz and 64mb ram at 45-50 fps, it's a decent frame rate for that computer, now if u see my specs, i run all games at full speed even with FSAA 4x and it looks great, also i can play in my TV using FSAA and looks better than my N64 and at a higher resolution

yup, without a doubt Project 64 is the best N64 emulator out now. It has a very high compatibiliy, and it emulates the 64's graphic hardware more accurately than other n64 emulators.

How can i speed up pj64 in my machine a got p3500 tnt2 128 mem in mario64 its fps is only raging to 35-58 so the sound is very bad

sorry to tell you this, but Pj64 has a high comp specs to run games properly.. It slows down a little on certain games even on my tbird 1000.. Which makes the sound effects and music play really bad.. If you want to play Mario 64 almost perfectly then get the n64 emulator Corn.. It runs Mario 64 at full speed with sound.. I have several n64 emus so if one game works better on Corn, I use it..

PJ64 works ok with me. I got Duron 800 n GF2MX 400, Mario64 runs Constantly 58-61 fps. The music didn't break.

The sound plugin that you are using certainly makes a lot of difference. In my computer, Azimer's Sound plugin has always worked the best. btw, UltraHLE runs Mario64 PERFECTLY, grweat graphics, great sound.

I think project 64 and nemu64 require 600Mhz or better

TR64 (and its clones) may require 400Mhz or better...for great results try using jabo's plugins.

UltraHLE requires a 333Mhz processor and a voodoo2 -if you want to play with sound, 266Mhz without sound-

Corn requires at least 233Mhz processor and a TNT 1 to run mario64 at a playable speed WITH sound.

Thanks for the tip guys i use ultrahle but the image quality in pj64 is really nice maybe i will have to find a good glide wrapper

Prafull

Mine celeron 500 with 810 chipset and 64 mb ram are just not good enough for either pj64 or nemu.I tried f1 pole position and best performance was given by ultrahle and corn(corn is really fast).

Talking about glide wrappers.I also need a good one.You guys know nething better than xgl or clide?(those are the two I tried)

This one is one of the fastest: http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley/8346/gl2ideal/

This is one of the best gfx:
http://come.to/3dgx

Take attention that the usage of 3dfx-Wrappers need much more CPU-power than a real 3dfx card with original drivers to get the same speed (in most cases sound isnīt fluently).

Prafull

Hey firegl the one you gave was the same as the first one from crush. Thanks for help folks but its a glide to opengl wrapper(wont work for me i guess as my intel 810 chipset is direct3d only).

Second one from crush seems interesting(multipurpose as well). But on playing fifa2001 no evoodoo screen appears be4 starting the game. How would I know that its working or not in my fifa2001.

I tried 3dfx mode in official formula 1 racing pc demo but it crashes.

I also tried evoodos ultrahle, it works ok but hangs a lot (atleast in f1 pole position)

Btw I hope lewpy is reading this,is there any glide wrappers that work with your plugins?(epsxe crashes when I try xgl, clide and evoodoo)

How many memory(VRAM) does your vga card has?

FireGL
September 24th, 2001, 18:52
BTW why dont you visit www.voodoofiles.com then hit 3dfx there are so many new glide wrappers i think one of them will fit to your machine

Hey, check this site:
N64 emulation Support Centre (http://www.smiff.clara.net)
It's really good, is updated frequently, has a lot of faqs, and has a special section for Glide Wrappers, comparing all of them, with different video cards.

September 25th, 2001, 06:47
The sites given by you two are very useful.I hope I can get the best wrappers and n64 stuff from these two.

i doubt the celly is slower, maybe only on certain aspects...but I'm surprised what the voodoo3 does then :)

It seem s that the old emus are a bit better , UltraHle is really worth to be downloaded , The First Working N64 emu , Mario 64 on P II 350 MHz and a matrox G200 , and i got a exelent result

Well, I've heard a lot of people saying that voodoo3 works great with Jabo's D3D plugin.

yeh voodoo 3 iz pretty fast with the gamez. my other comp has p3 nvidia 850 and nvidia tnt 2 and the games run like crap on that one. they look nice... but slow.

Voodoo3 has native Glide support. Geforces don't.(not that it really matters now, since 3dfx is dead)

Um yeah my Gateway N series desktop has the Intel 810 chip set and a Celeron 700 mhz processor. I have tried a few n64 emulators, but the ones I tried did not work or were running at 15 to maybe 20 fps. I have 512 mb of ram and Windows Xp Pro sp3. Could someone please give suggestions that do not include getting a new pc.

I have the latest driver for the 810 chip-set, so I do not know what is going on. My OpenGL seems to be a little messed up to. I played Return to Castle Wolfenstein on Windows 2000, but Xp pro sp3 will not play it. It is strange though that with epsxe 1.7.0 and the P.E. Ops 1.18b plugin I am able to play games at full fps. I think they need to make a new plugin that just emulates the n64 games w/o any improvements like graphics or anything. That is what PE Ops does.
