Gabest is probably still making video plugins(unless he got sick of you people as FLaRe85 said)
The next video plugin is ZeroGs, that's all I know.

Erm, sorry about non english, plz don't delete this reply, i also have a question about this plugin...
When i click on "test" it seems that "separated alpha blend" it's not working ok, why is that?
And, another thing...
This one a little off topic (i'm sry): It's when i try to make my own patch to skip video secuences in FFX japanese version (SLPS_250.26), the hex editor isn't able to find the pattern specified, so i can't make the patch. Now my question is, is there another tutorial more complex to make patchs or something i can do?
Thanks in advance.

as many have to keep explaining to what i refer to as "slow people" this emulator is very very far from finished, you are lucky to get very much out of any game at all, its going to be slow reguardless what you think you can do or what pc you may have. deal with it, if you hate that its so slow, well i guess buy yourself a ps2 and play your games on that and wait a few years and come back here and maybe than pcsx2 will be fast enough to run games normally(if you are lucky that is) the devs are trying as best they can with this project and they have done a great job so far but its still far from finished. thats my 2 cents on this, sorry mods if i may have stepped a bit over the line.

I'm using a Radeon 8500,but GSdx9 always crashes the emulator :( Using the one from the latest PCSX2 0.9.1.
The 8500 has better shader capabilities than even the GF4 Ti,but it doesn't work with GSdx9 with any of the 3 settings.
Using DX9.0c,XPSP2
I also had no luck with the ZeroGS plugin, this one requires Vertex Shader 2.0 :(

I had a very weird problem with this plugin. It was not the video card that was the problem, but mostly the core emulator (PCSX2) SSE bug and a strange issue with the GSdx9 plugin.
Newest PCSX2 has a bug when the eerec is enabled,so it instantly crashes the emulator.
If I disable the eerec optimizations,I get a message about some kind of error:
"Error loading GSsetBaseMem:Error loading symbol"
and I can't start the plugin without this.
What's even more odd is when I put an older version of the GSdx9 plugin (0.6) in the plugins folder and tried to start with this plugin,I got the same error,BUT then I tried the 0.9 again and it worked??? Weird stuff.
But without the eerec opts it's too damn slow...about 10x slower.

Hi ! I have AMD SEMPRON 2400+, Ati Radeon 9550 256 Mb, Windows XP SP 2. Before format i could play on my GSdx9 plugin. And now, after format ( i installed all drivers, newest version ) i can't play with GSdx9 . Why ? Because i get an error : C:\Program Files\PCSX2\plugins\GSdx9.dll: Error loading GSsetBaseMem: Error loading symbol.
What to do ? I tried to reinstall this plugin, download older or newer version, but it didn't help....
I tried to launch DMC 3 with ZEROGS plug-in, but i have there low fps ( in GSdx9 i have much fps )
Help !

Hi ! I have AMD SEMPRON 2400+
That's the problem. PCSX2 has BIG bugs with PCs than only supports SSE. You should wait until the next version, or buy a PC than have SSE2, or even SSE3.
This post is for negroemu, too.

Your gfx card does not support pixel shaders 2 or up so use GSdx9...and given this is a GSdx9 thread and you post about ZeroGS its abit offtopic
mastermanu

Edit: Sorry I cannot seem to get the screen shots uploaded, but I believe I've provided adequate information for diagnosis.
This is not necessarily a pressing need since I've already ordered a PS2 that should be arriving within a couple of days, but I just recently learned about PCSX2 (zophar.net pretty much stopped updating :( ), was absolutely stunned by its progress and felt compelled to take the emulator for a test drive. I tried running Kingdom Hearts and ran into the following problem.
The Problem:
The graphics are completely garbled and pretty much remain static. See the accompanying screen shot for an image that would give Picasso a run for his money :). As you can see, that does not even remotely represent what the title screen should look like
The Configuration:
See the attached screen shot. I am running GSdx9 (SSE2) using Pixel Shader 1.1 and rendering via Direct3D. I've tried the non-SSE2 version with similar results.
The Specs:
Pentium 4 2.00 gHz (non dual core / no hyper-threading)
512 MB Ram
Nvidia GeForce4 Ti 4600 128MB VRAM w/TV-Out
Windows XP SP2
The Logs:
No errors reported.
My take on the problem:
I read somewhere that Pixel Shader v. 1.1 had a couple of kinks that needed to get worked out. However, I read that these bugs were merely limited to "bad coloring." Unfortunately I can't even make out the word "Hearts" in that picture. My graphics card is relatively old, but it is more high end than an FX5200 or an FX5500, and from what I've read, those cards work fine with PCSX2. Besides, with Pixel Shader 1.1 and Software Rendering, the graphics look gorgeous, so this seems to be a Direct3D issue.
The solution:
Right now I can avoid this mess by using a Software Renderer as opposed to Direct3D. Unfortunately, this may be too much for my CPU to handle as the game slows to a crawl (~5-6 frames per second) w/CPU usage at 95%. Obviously using Direct3D as a renderer would probably result in a significant speed boost, but I just cannot get it to function properly. My card is probably too outdated, but I was just wondering if someone could confirm this hypothesis, or even better - come up with a solution that I'm apparently missing. I do have the DirectX 9 SDK installed, so I do not believe this is an OS / software issue of any kind.
Again I am not necessarily pressed for an answer to this question. I am just curious as to if there is a (workable) solution. I apologize if this post sounds ignorant and truly appreciate the tremendous progress that has occured with this emulator. :D

Sounds like some bad direct x installation, are you using the latest direct x 9c? Also check if your gfx card drivers are outdated, they may have something to do with this. Also,if your CPU is not supporting SSE2(not sure if it does) you will get various problems with the latest 0.9.1 release

I initially thought it was a DirectX 9 issue, so I installed DirectX 9.0c and still ran into the same results. However I believe the graphics card driver may be an issue that I overlooked - I'm pretty sure the driver is at least 3-4 years old :hdbash:
I'll try updating it when I get home. There does not seem to be any specific GeForce4 drivers available, so I assume all you NVIDIA users downloaded this: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_91.31.html ?

Hmm, I found something interesting regarding GSDX and Windows XP.......
Recently, a friend of mine copied my rig to to the last hardware and I noticed for some reason PCSX2 would crash when using GSDX on his system. The only difference was that he is using Windows XP Home Edition with SP2 and I'm using Windows XP x64. So as an experiment I tried reformatting my PC and then installing my old copy of Windows XP Home Edition.
Suprise suprise, GSDX did always crash when using Windows XP Home Edition with GSDX9. Which suprised me a lot.
I thought there was little difference between XP and x64 and actually expected compability to worsen since x64 Windows doesn't really natively support 32-Bit applications. Wierd.......
Anyway, I just freshly installed SP2 as well as the Dual Core hotfix, I'll try other fixes and see if it will help. :)

I think you should first stop off-topic posting.
For Gsdx in the next pcsx2 release, what kind of improvment are planned ? more compatibility ? will compatibility with non SSE2 specs and ATI 98xx series be improved (if i remember well, there was problem with these two at the last release, it may not be related to the plugin, in that case my question has no sense ^^) ?

I don't think it will be updated anymore, it seems the author of the plugin is currently on hiatus..... Even if someone would take over programming the plugin, I would be hard to catch on. if I remember correctly, the last source released is way behind the one included in PCSX2 currently.

Well here's the deal with this new GSdx9 plugin it runs only slightly slower (talking like 5~10% or so which is no big deal but it varies a bit from game to game) than when using ZeroGS when MTGS & DC mode but then again we all know GSdx9 looks sweet and can be compared to AA4x + BF quality in ZeroGS plugin and as you know that requires a very good GPU while for GSdx9 it doesn't need close to as good GPU "overall" I say overall since there's still GPU demanding games that does slow down quite a bit with GSdx9 too, take a look at RE4 to see what I mean but it sure looks great though. ;)
Anyways I did encounter a bit gfx bugs in other games than say FFX too but it's 3 AM here atm and I have a test tomorrow so I better get some sleep now. Tomorrow won't be much time for feedback, going home over the weekend (from my dorm to the real home) which means no comp access over the weekend until Sunday. Anyways it's nice to see a revival of GSdx9 because it has soo much potential in it to become a really great graphics plugin. Well it already is but it has potential to succeed better than ZeroGS approach in most/all scenarios with a little further progress. :p

FFX Bug:
No sky, run the intro, the sky is black instead of "sunrise" effect
Bad move Bug:
NLoop 0 hack is set to perminantly on, which means the bios crashes everytime you use Run->Execute, which is needed for some games.
other than that, its pant moistening to have MTGS in GSDX9 finally :) good job

I love GSdx9 plugin because it runs Nippon Ichi/NIS games (Disgaea, Phantom Brave etc) with beautiful graphics. 1920x1200 resolution, filering enabled, AAx4 and those games still run above 70fps. But with zerogs, playing NIS games with AAx4 and filtering enabled the fps drop from a steady 60-65 to an horrible 30 or so >< and it still does not look as good.
My heart dropped when I saw the plugin update in ngemu web page. Sadly the overlapping/missing texture problems when doing abilities and spells is still present ; ; and this is the only thing that stop these games from having perfectly emulated graphics. Other than that, perfect plugin for NIS games.
Thank you for your hard work and gl.

Its a bit glitchy but its oh so much faster then ZeroGS and also looks much better.
Few things I noticed:
- fullscreen modes don't work at all (Radeon x1950, Vista x86).
- some framedropping is going on, even with frameskip set to "limit" - probably only cause by Aero being enabled.
- theres still the alpha (sorting?) bug in Disgaea 1-2. Then again, its in ZeroGS as well if you use a Radeon. (zerogs + geforce doesnt have it)

Consider that you need to set ZeroGS to 4xaa and filtering to get similar picture quality (which kills the speed), and that I had Aero enabled and still got better speeds then with zerogs+no aero.
Anyway, is there some frameskipping thing going on? No matter the settings, Gradius V seems to drop half the frames always. Its most noticable when you die and your ship is flashing - it isnt flashing, since every 2nd frame is missing, its either solid or invisible.

Try it without deinterlacing, I think the two frames are just blended. (where it is visible and invisible)
Hm, but maybe that's not the case, 60fps flashing wouldn't be visible anyway.

It has no effect.
Technically it shouldnt, Gradius V runs in beautiful 480p.

From a site PCSX2.net - News (http://www.pcsx2.net)
"Dual Core mode (DC)": Yet another mode that boosts speed in dual core CPUs only and only if MTGS has been enabled above. This is also experimental so more or less the same things apply with MTGS although you should only use it in dual core CPUs. Again GSdx9 is not properly compatible with this mode.

funny thing is i was playing Disgaea 2 yesterday with v.9 and all the shaking just gave me a big headache, so i was about to quit playing and then i saw this updated version which was exactly what i needed.
and now with the threading support i'm getting crazy speeds (~79fps) when b4 i would get less than 55fps.

Videos can be bogus sometimes, depends on how the image is transfered by the game. Texture uploads and direct frame buffer writes could be improved, in lots of cases games use region repeat mode to address textures and that's not very well optimized yet, and direct writes are a just pain to handle.

I haven't tried it with the new PCSX2 yet, but it seems like speed has dropped quite a bit since the last version. (I am somehow the only one who managed to have MTGS/DC working with the last version...) Also, the input becomes kind of choppy if you ever drop below 60 fps.
Let me try it with the new PCSX2, though... and regardless, nice release!
Oh, and also, for those of you with Vista... putting it into fullscreen mode should prevent Aero from sapping your graphics resources. Or, right click your PCSX2 shortcut/program, click Properties, go to the Compatibility tab, and check Disable Visual Themes and Disable Desktop Composition (along with Run As Administrator, if you have UAC turned on, to enable the VM build). Now Aero will temporarily disable when you run PCSX2, and come back on when you exit it.

On older video cards where pixel shader 1.x was faster than 2.0 this new release may be slower, but I was testing it a lot on a 8600gt and didn't notice any slowdown anymore, as with my older 6600gt few years ago. 1.x is not coming back, as I said the compiler was removed from the sdk. No-SSE2 build is still possible, I was just lazy to include it in the rar, but if you want to actually enjoy playing ps2 games on pcsx2 you will need at least SSE2 anyway.

My laptop is no powerhouse (1.73 Dual-Core and Geforce 7300), but it's the difference between Disgaea running basically flawlessly and it running like crap, or anything else running slowly and it running even more slowly.
Not sure what exactly the issue is, though; I'm using the same settings between the versions (SSE2, 640x480x60Hz fullscreen, PS2.0, Direct3D, Filtering on, Interlace off, Palettized off, NLOOP off, etc). However, with the new version, the input lags, the 2D speed is a bit slower, 3D effects like special attacks slow PCSX2 to a crawl, etc.
Think it might be a plugin conflict or something? I'm using Pete's SPU2 unthreaded for audio, SSXPAD for input, and Linuzappz ISO for the game data (ripped the DVD to a TAO file on my hard drive). Or do you think I'm just at the knee of the Disgaea performance curve? :P

The emulated hardware sends interlaced signal, so (I'm guessing) gsdx either renders that interlaced signal, or will display it "normally" in progressive, but this will introduce motion blur due to the fact that half the frames are always late.

It had screenshaking instead... Rendered every even line as one frame and every odd line as one frame, but without sorting them back to even and odd lines, basically displaying every 2nd frame 1 pixel too high. Thus the screen was shaking.

10-4 released.
There are new shortcuts, F5 switches interlacing modes, F6 display aspect ratio, F7 osd.
It uses a vertex shader now (faster with large number of vertices), no idea how it behaves if there is no hardware support, software processing mode should still be available by directx.
Regarding blending. Blending is the only way to fix shaking, but sometimes it's not necessary.
For example:
- ffx skips every second frame so they are just identical
- ys1/2 correctly renders both frames (second shifted) and can be deinterlaced using the bob method
- street fighter II an.ed. just messes up the shifting and ends up with the wrong field order, it shakes even more with bob
- rumbling roses doesn't seem to consider the current field register value to shifts the picture, it's just random...

The halved framerate problem in Gradius V doesnt happen anymore when using no interlace methods.
4 things:
- When using Pixel Shader 2, I get a blank black screen. Game still works, I can hear intro/reacts to keypresses, etc. (Radeon x1950Pro) With PS3, it works fine.
- mouse cursor is visible in fullscreen mode
- is it possible to add a alt+enter to switch between fullscreen and windowed? Alt+tab crashes pcsx2, so I either have to run it in windowed, or never exit while pcsx2 is running.
- another tiny request... Triple buffer / vsync, to prevent screen tearing.

First of all, I want to thank you for all the dedicated work, I hope you're not getting bugged by all these feature requests or fixes or whatever. Take it only as a suggestion, nothing more if you're not sure of what to improve with the plugin. But I'm sure you already have your own ideas and goals too.
Like Borisz also pointed out alt+enter to switch between full screen and window would be nice as PCSX2 has this "exit" bug so you're screwed and have to reboot your comp if exiting from fullscreen mode. With Windows Server 2003 it was possible to get away from it without having to reset computer as opening task manager would remove the freezed pcsx2 fullscreen window or the "still image" but no good with Win XP that doesn't "refresh" the desktop when pressing ctrl+alt+del and pressing whatever keycombinations I know of doesn't help either at least for me.
