I don't get it can anyone give me a quick run on the plot of the newer planet of the apes. I mean the old one had a great ending but the newer one is like inconclusive isnt it?

New One is garbage... The conclusion was that one ape lied to the ape generation, Was extremely violent, And that apes entire family line caused the apes to hate humans because they were always in control.
the Space pilot human guy, Locked the guy up and the apes saw him for a fraud and the humans and apes lived happily ever after *sigh*
Dont know they could take such a great series, Release that garbage, And defile its entire name,

He returns to earth to find the lincoln monument has been replaced by a stone monkey. The monkey police come and capture him. ;)
THE END.

I have to agree with ChrisRay: the new Planet of the Apes is pure trash.
That part about the Lincoln monument replaced by a monkey statue was particularly awful (it smells so much of historical determinism that I almost passed out  ).

Conclusion?
Right time, wrong dimension. :p
Was a nice comedy. Wait, it was supposed to be a comedy right? Was there a plot?
The small monkey was cute though :p

I was talking about this to someone else ;) recently...
The logic holes in this movie began within the first five minutes:
The reason we're given for why the astronauts were using chimps -- to pilot their spaceprobes -- made absolutely no sense. Since we see Mark Walberg's character communicating radio instructions to his chimp, why not simply use those SAME radio signals to remotely control an entirely robotic craft?? (...uh, because then the premise dictating the monkeys' usefulness would promptly fall apart.:P)
How is it that the wild humans on the planet speak English?
Where did the horses come from?
Where did the gorilla warrior species come from? -- Or the orangutange slave-trader, for that matter, since the original spaceship only had advanced chimpanzees on board?
Evolution takes MILLIONS of years, not a few thousand.
The story also suffered the same social morphology problems that the Orcs presented in LOTR: the apes in the film were barely civilized enough to keep from constantly in-fighting and sniffing each other's butts, yet they're seen wearing elaborately ornamented armour whose manufacture would require technical precision beyond their manual dexterity or level of civility.
The ending is retarded to suggest that wildly divergent planetary evolution (starting from intelligent apes) would somehow coincidentally result in an American history that precisely parallels man's known history, except with a man-ape role-switch. --That's right, apes decided to build their version of Washington D.C. by the EXACT same layout as our own, right down to the placement of the monuments... :???:

Check Fawad's post... right time wrong dimension... basically he ended up on a dimension where planet Earth is ruled by apes...

I thought Fawad was just saying that as his idea of the conclusion. God damn it sucked baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad. THe original where it turns out the planet is earth is a kick ass damn you post modernist writers! Damn you! Damn you all to hell!

In infinite space, even the most unlikely thing is bound to occur...
But I agree with everyone, the movie sucked donkeys.
Oh, and please, SOMEBODY explain how Marky Mark crash-lands his space probe, which presumably travels at incredible speeds, into 2 1/2 feet of water, smashes it into the stairs of the lincoln memorial (instead of crushing the whole thing into a great big fvcking crater) and exits the vehicle without so much as a scratch? :???:

To make up for the lack of human action in the film?

Hmmmmm indeed the new version sucked big time (they passed it on fox some days ago)..... it would have been better if they didn't have done anything at al..... I mean, the original saga was great, even with its lousy makeup and all.... plus the ending od the saga (the one where the monkeys learned to think and the lived in peace with humans) was good enough ;)

Well.... itis because there are various movies..... I was meaning the last one.... where Caesar appears (the son of Cyra and Cornelius).... he taught the other monkeys (which were slaves) to think, and thus they created a society along with humans (in the end)
