Hello everyone ... sorry i know this isnt the right forum ....
My question : Yesterday i went to a friend and he showed me his new modded x-box with linux mediaplayer psx n64 emulator etc. and i was really fascinated by all the cool stuff which you can do with it.
Now i wanna know if the playstation will be similar applicative when the HDD is released (in europe it isnt yet).

I am sure you guys know that (wouldnt post here if i was not)

PS2 already has Linux, a media player, and PSX(of course :D). I heard about some guy porting Nemu64, but if he did, he never made a public release.

BTW, I think this would be more suited in Misc PS2 Discussion.

how do you mean this ?
This friend of mine can use his x-box like a Pc... view the webpages ... mpg , avis , mp 3 everything ... he can chat and all this stuff... proberly i should correct myself... will i can install Linux on a Ps2 hdd ?? :)
i cant sleep if i dont know *g* ... i want all that cool stuff too :(

You can buy the Linux Development Kit (http://www.us.playstation.com/peripherals.aspx?id=SCPH-97047) for the ps2 from Sony for $199. There have also been at least one version of linux that has been ported to the ps2.

Yeag there is a special dev version of the PS2 preloaded with Ps2 and mouse and hardrive...Sorta dumb though because of various limitations...
