I have the exact same problem on my desktop though the software works flawlessly on my laptop. It's very wierd.

I'm using the software and i remember getting that error if i have the software open and i try to transfer the file rite after the mp3 list has refresehd itself. All i do is exit the software and go back in to make sure the mp3s will transfer properly.

My thread is over a year old, let it die
IIRC It has something to do with the the fact i had it on a USB 1.1 Device, so their was bad communcation. Solution : Upgrade to 2.0
EDIT
Besides, i dont really care about mpio anymore anyway, i have an ipod now

Me neither but I'm having this problem right now with 2 different USB2.0 PCI cards (freecomm and conceptronics).
I really can't figure this out...

He could of made a new thread, but he still had a reason to bring this one back up. Let it be for now.
Is it me or is all the software with music devices these days utter crap? Look at Sony's SonicStage. I cant even get it to install correctly, and I use ogg which it dosnt support. So I end up having to burn an audio cd image from nero, mount that on a virtual drive, and use their simple md burner to copy over the songs. Its annoying, and the copy protection is ridiculous!

Well Its really a USB thing though. Sometimes the Software Hates Eachother, Creative Really has a problem with this i know for a faq. mpio is just weird sometimes...

I didn't notice the thread date. Nevertheless, I personally find more use to have all related information in the same thread than have 2 separate threads regarding the same subject. That would raise an issue on "what's an old thread?"

Most software do tend to have problems with USB devices. Must be something with the way software communicates with USB devices.

I own the FD100. Excellent device. Great, bright and vivid sound. The earphones are superb. A very balanced package, kudos MPIO. Pitty the unreliable software though...

Honestly I don't really know. I have a Toshiba Tecra M1. It must be Intel based, I guess...

@ gnf.pt : Hmm...have u already installed sp1 if ur using xp? i think pre-sp1 has problems with certain usb devices so u mite wanna check that out.
@ Raiden1803: im using the fl100 rite now and i think its a pretty good player. only thing is, the battery life with the backlight on is pretty lacking.

D.D, yes, I'm using the latest release of SP2 on my desktop and XP (at most with SP1) on my laptop. I've changed a few things on my desktop after the failed new USB2 PCI card attempt and I guess I had luck. I just removed diskeeper (latest version) and I was finally able to copy an entire album to the SM card (something like 60MB with no troubles - usually I was unable to copy 5MB without the error).
If I experience no more errors the culprit is Diskeeper for sure.

The battery life of the FD100 is very good. I use rechargeable 2300mAh NIMH that last up to 2 weeks with about 2h/day of use (with the use a 128MB SM card).

Are you sure enough power is beeing supplied to the USB PCI card? i know when i had the FD100 i had it attached to a USB 1.1 Hub , For some reason When i attached things to my hub it keeped giving less and less power. but i also just found out FD100 Supports USB 1.1
EDIT
How did you get SP2? thought it was delayed oO

FD100 supports USB1.1, not USB2.0. The PCI USB2.0 card is getting it's power from the PCI bus. The FD100 is attached directly to it, no hub between. Anyway, the FD100 is battery powered, it doesn't satisfy it's power needs from the USB interface.

It's the release candidate. It's very promising.
