IIRC, Microsoft planned to add a virtualiser in their next server OS (or maybe desktop OS too, dunno). I assume it was cheaper to buy Virtual PC than to develop their own solution... I'm sure that most people who are complaining right know will be happy to have a good virtualizer incorporated in the next versions of their (pirated) OS. :p Who buys microsoft products, anyway?

Id rather buy a different product which i know its features, then have one forcefully built into the OS without option of removel or changing to a different product (IE for example .. you cant actully remove it even though you can install a different product) .

you can remove IE. i did it just last week when i installed Firebird on my secondary computer. just go to "add/remove windows components"

it IS built into XP because it's part of windows update. however, i unistalled it and its program files are gone, theres only a few security catalogs left over, and some other connection wizard crap. so effectively, its gone, except for windows update

No really, it was sold to Microsoft around february this year. Just check the older newsposts in Aaron Giles' site, he worked at Connectix.

Read the comments. Linux still works in VPC, the only change is that MS does not offer support for this configuration.
