Sorry, I realize this is not related to PS2 Emulation, but I couldn't find anywhere better. I was wondering if anyone knows of a program to find and extract MPEG-2 streams from a disk or a file. I was wanting to extract some of the FMVs from my PS2 games. I'm not sure if it's different for each game, I've noticed there are special extractors for some games. If anyone knows of some sort of universal MPEG-2 extraction tool, please let me know.

psmplay...
I think it can rip both PS & PS2 movies. But in AVI (at a configurable compression).....

PSMPlay only can extract / watch the PSX FMV. For PS2 FMV, you need PS2Play. For tools such FFX2mov, your extraction will be in 2 separates files [audio and vide], you need to mix it with TMPGenc, that would be MPEG2 movie.

Yes, I know about those programs, but that is not what I need. I want something to search through the RAW data of a file or disk and find MPEG-2 streams.

I think what they are saying is that PS2 movies aren't in MPEG-2 format.

Some are. Some aren't.

Dang, I guess that means no one has a clue how to do this. Darn, I really wanna get some of those FMVs.

I never tried PS2Play, but it's a PS2 FMV viewer, and [perhaps] you can extract the movies.

you can't (at least with the version i have...)
it only lets you open & play PSS files.

If you want to convert a pss movie to mpeg2 you can use Pss_Plex to create .m2v and wave files and TMPGEnc to create a mpeg. Its the best you search the Pss_Plex and TMPGEnc with Google. I only know that it is able to convert .pss videos but it has more functions. Maybe it helps you.

Hi! I am from south africa. I have recently finished ffx, brilliant game. I want to rip the fmv to make a music video, but the software i found, ffxmov2 rips the clips but they jump alot. Can anyone recommend a decent fully working ffx fmv ripper. I would really appreciate it.

First, don't revive really old threads. This thread is nearly seven months old . I think it'd be okay to start a new one. Anyway, it's a bit of a complicated process, especially if you're not computer savvy. You need to combine the video and audio files and you'll probably want to convert them to another codec. Maybe someone else can go into more details, I don't have time at the moment.

By the way, welcome to the forums ;).
