modem to modem connection

hello all,

me and my friend are using Windows 98 dial-up server/client to connect each other's pc to play Red Alert2, Counter-Strike and other games (haven't tried epsxe's netplay though) using our telephone lines.

what we would like to know is if there are other software out there which are better than windows' dial-up server option.

any response appreciated. tks.

i use laplink its very good and easy to use , and i heared that there is a newer version.
