You know, something like the Petes Soft GPU plugin for psx.
Is there anything near that for N64 that makes the graphics look like the real system and not with an enhanced graphics effect?

Currently, no. As I've heard it from the plugin authors themselves at emutalk, having a software video plugin would actually be slower than with the current Hardware plugins on N64 emulators since a lot of functions on the N64 are HLE'd.

Hmmm... damn, I guess blurry text and blurry rendered sprites are here to stay forever on N64 emulation :(
Thanks anyways.

If you just turn the resoloution down and turn off all filtering the desirable effect is obtained. The 2D chunkyness is no fault of the graphics plugins - merely the high resoloution you are using. They look just fine on a 320x200 TV screen don't they? :p ;)

I did.
I don't play in huge res, I play in a 320x240 windowed mode.
I also always disable all filters.
The problem is with DirectX, it needs to be enabled for the emulator to work, so DX autmatically filters stuff.
Most emulators use Dx to work, but they generally have options to disable those blurring filters.

What is being blurred? Are you talking about the 3-D textures or about the 2-D sprites? And what video plugins are you using - I don't really understand what you are talking about when you say "filters stuff".
I find that things look pretty choppy and true to the N64 (TV style) when I use those settings ;)

Not correct. Dx dosn't filter it. yuor Graphics card driver does (I am betting nVidia since ATI And 3dfx never have) there is no way to stop it unless you disable directdraw in the DxDIag.exe utility thats uinstalled with DirectX. Note that you will lose Diorectdraw for everything by doing it.

Interesting idea - I use my Voodoo 5 for emulation, which would be why I ain't seeing this stuff happening.
*applause for dpence* ;)

That's right, what's being blurred are the 2D sprites and rendered 2D sprites, also the text looks washed out and blurry.
I'm using nvidia yes.
I disabled Dx already and I disabled all the filters in the emulator that might 'enhance' the graphics, thus making the text look blurry.
But, it still does look blurry.
So if it's my card, is there a way to disable something in my card's config that will stop that blurryness thing?
I'm using a GeForce2 MX btw.
Thanks for the help.
Someone should really make a soft plugin like the ones for the psx emulator :)

As fivefeet8 said - such a soft plugin would be slow due to most emulators use of HLE (meaning exact 1:1 emulation without skipping, changing, or replacing anything - which is basically what LLE is...).
i have the same card as you and I am fin for text and 2D sprites - they are choppy but legible.
Which video plugin are you using?

Oh well, I guess will have to wait a few years until there are even better computers that will run n64 perfectly without graphic enhancers :)
I was using the Jabo one, but now I'm using Rice's Daedalus, it gives me much cleaner sprites and the text looks better, not how it should be; but at least it's better.

I am certain that there is some setting related to your video card that will fix things up. A modern computer with a fast processor and a decent graphics card would be able to run (I think) a soft-plug at full speed - but most pople don't have such a modern computer.

They should make a N64 software plugin, just so I can play Pokemon Puzzle League online. :p
There are a lot of graphical glitches with that game in the hardware plugins.
