very clear, but how would you unless know you try it. Take a chance the probability of it working is around 80-90 percent

The codebreaker forums have a cheat code you can use as a bandaid fix, there are also some patches out there, but all they are is the same cheat code. You put in the cheat code, then when the screen freezes during the transition, you just hit select.
PS. This has been discussed already. ( http://207.44.203.86/forums/showthread.php?threadid=35592 ) Always search for an existing thread before starting a new one.

Then.... i add code breaker... then play and press SELECT???
OK! Then the same result... i play E version... am i wrong?
Ive use the cheat list of a member there... (he call it a patch :D)
A question: is this cheat just for U version or Jap version?

You put in the code, turn it on, play until you get stuck at the black screen/circle, then hit select and it should bring you to the menu screen.
The cheat is originally for the U version, although it -should- work on the E version as well. Usually, the only difference in codes between E and U versions is the enable code (which VBA doesn't require). It is possible though that this code is different between the two versions, I suggest going over to the codebreaker site and asking them about it.

I am tracing this bug.. I found why it does loop but I don't know the origin of this bug yet, because I cannot trace the execution of the game on a real GBA.. and I don't know how different is the behaviour of the GBA compared to VBA.
I found a hack to play Hamtaro, but this patch changes the behaviour of VBA and makes it different of the real GBA, so it is a temp until I find a good fix of the bug.
Warning: other games may not run correctly with the hack.
In the Windows version I added the option "Hamtaro Hack" in the Cheats menu, so the hack can be desactivated.
You can download the patched VBA 1.7 sources here:
http://tsys.org/VisualBoyAdvance-1.7-hamtaro-src.tar.gz
http://tsys.org/VisualBoyAdvance-1.7-hamtaro-src.zip
I finally compiled it for Windows (a hard experience):
http://tsys.org/VisualBoyAdvance-1.7-hamtaro-win32.zip
Note about the Windows binary:
I first compiled it without "link incrementally" option, but it crashed while playing Hamtaro just before you learn the first vochams.. I finally compiled it with "link incrementally" which forces to remove the /OPT:REF linker command line option (it removes the unused code), that's why the file is bigger than it should. I would be grateful if someone can explain me this crash.. (Windows makes me mad ^^,)

I tried to email you at users.sourceforge.net but I'm not sure this address works because sourceforge replied a timeout error. I would like to send my stuff about this bug to you, if you're ok, let me know a working email (mine is kxu at tsys.org).

kxu,
I don't have a working email at the moment, so you can send me a private message on ngemu for now.

The funny thing is, the game worked fine in VBA1.7 b2.

Game crashes with VBA 1.6 and older, worked fine with 1.7b2 and b3, and crashed again in VBA 1.7final.
I have both roms, and i use E version... because it is in spanish, my native language :)

Topic does not exist
so.. where are the codes???
and what's wrong with this rom that makes emulation fails?
BTW: I have VC++ 6.0, and DX 7 SDK. Will VBA sources compile with DirectX7 headers&libs, or i need DX8SDK ones?
