That's some nice cel-shading... but doesn't it look a bit blurry? Hmmmm, I hope more games like these are released... seems like and old school 2D game, only that with the graphic improvements we have now :)

That's probably just the video capture card they are using. I'm sure the actual game is clearer.

This looks like it will be great.
I just finished Tales of Eternia and it was excellent.

That looks pretty sweet, but err can someone fill me in on the rest of the tales series like what consoles they were on? I don't think I've ever played any of them.

Tales of Phantasia was a blast to play although the storyline sucked major ass. Love the cell-shaded graphics by the way. When implemented properly, it can look amazing!

Lord of Darkness that looks damn good... get rid of the blurry effect and I'll consider renting a GC to play it ;)

I love Tales series, those pictures are really cool to me. Too bad I dont have a Gamecube, heck, I'd go PS2 if I am in need of a powerful gaming console. :p

Somehow I don't think so, notice that the the things on the front (the chars for example) look well, but the things on the background look too blurry...

maybe its motion blur? :)
it looks good enough i suppose, i'm not very fond of the cell shading though. would have prefered a more 3-d look... and possibly a little more age in the characters...

I'm not a fan nor a detractor of cel shading but I gotta admit that the game looks damn impresive... a reason to get a GC ? ;)

This game will really shine through when you're playing 4-player. :)

They look good, but not incredible. This really looks like something that could be done on PS2 no problem, although that doesn't really say much. The battles actually look A LOT like Star Ocean 3's, except SO3's look.. well, better. The backgrounds and players are both more detailed. I agree that there's something strange about the char models. I've never been a fan of super deformity, but this one has some really weird SD.. they look like 6 year olds. I don't wanna play a party of 6 year olds, although if I could get over it in FF9 I could probably get over it here.... if I had a GCN, anyway.
Hey, wanna take bets on whether or not it'll be released in the USA? I'm getting the distinct feeling that Namco doesn't want to release ANY of its recent or upcoming Tales games outside of Japan, which is really sad considering they just made a new division specifically for the millions of Tales games they're working on now. I want Tales of Destiny 2! Grr!

No, I'm talking about the real Tales of Destiny 2. The direct sequel to Tales of Destiny, released earlier in Japan for PS2. The game you're referring to was originally titled Tales of Eternia; Namco apparently thought that it would sell better if they renamed it.

namco like confusing people just like square did with tis FF titles. also, similar to the street fighter zero/alpha (although not that bad). and of course the bison/vega/balrog problem.
