I wanna grab some screens. The main thing is I don't know if "interpreter" or "Dynarec"(?) is better for the sh2 plug in. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well in theory, Dynearec should be faster, bu I haven't yet been able to get the emu working at all....

The interpreter sh2 plugins are slower but a lot more compatible. The dynarec sh2 plugin is faster, but quite buggy and less compatible. I've gotten the emu to run a few games, but those games crash or error soon after loading. Even Radiant Silvergun which worked in previous versions of Satourne, now causes error messages and crashes satourne. :(

I'll be testing out some more games soon. But so far RS and Panzer Dragoon Zwie aren't working. In either dynarec or interpreter cores.

Time to check on Panzer Dragoon 1 which worked in older satourne versions. Hopefully, the plugin developers will get their plugins out soon. ;)

On possitive notes: Satourne has gotten quite fast. Most games were running full speed until they crashed or sh2 errored. Plus filtering and AA options are great.

Interesting, thanks. Now I just have a couple of questions:

1.) Where exactly do I put the MSCVP70.dll file? I put it into the general directory with Satourne, but the program tells me it can't find it when I try to set up the plug ins. Is there a folder I have to put it in?

2.) I'm guessing I'm going to need a bios rom here. I'm not going to ask where to find it, but do I put it into the "roms" folder?

3.) I haven't gotten the emu working at all, so I haven't been able to check this out, but can I run the game from an image? I ripped most of my Saturn games to images for use with the girigiri emu (shhhh), and it'd be cool if I could use those.

The only success I have had is with "Bubble Bobble" . It loads the copyright screen and then starts to load then intro and jams. I get the same result no matter what plugin I use or what bios I load.

What other games did you try it with? I'm just hoping that NiGHTS, Dragoon Force, Burning Rangers, and Shining Force 3 (only scenario 1) works.

Anyways, I got the bios to load, but I'm still having problems with msvcp70.dll. Grrrrr.

EDIT:

Figured it out...this may help some other peeps too. Aparently, the program needs MSVCR 70.DLL - yet the satourne homepage tells you to download MSVCP 70.DLL.

So, get msvcr70.dll instead.

Hope this helps some people out.

ACtually, it needs MsvcP70.dll because that is what I am using. Without it, satourne shows an error message about 'unable to load msvcp70.dll" then goes on to error about not able to load plugin interface.

Msvcr70.dll is a C programming extension while msvcp70.dll is a C++ programming extension. Both were already in my system files directory since I have MS Visual Studio installed.

I don't know man, it wasn't working for me when I had P in there, so I downloaded R, and then it worked (well, more than before ;) )

I took R out, and got the error message before. I've circled the message, and the two P files (zipped and unzipped). The problem certainly didn't stem from having two files, as I tried both seperatly before just throwing them in there.

Mines show the exact error, but with the P file instead. Might be because I've got MS Visual Studio and .net installed.

I'm guessing you need both then, because I was pretty sure it said the P file before I downloaded it, and then the R file. I don't know.

I just copied the P file from elsewhere on my system to the Satourne directory. Worked fine, exept for hte fact that Fighting Vipers, the only game I have to hand, doesn't wanna know.

It has to be in ISO format, but even then it crashes for me.

firstly many thanks to fabian for writing the emulator,

and now after 2 days of banging my head against the proverbial wall
i've managed to get the emulator to work. i've only tried saturn
emulation as i own a whole bunch of those games, not tried stv
emulation yet though.

fisrtly you need the correct msvcp70.dll AND msvcr70.dll, the
versions i'm using are:
msvcp70.dll - 7.0.9466.0
msvcr70.dll - 7.0.9254.0

you also need a copy of the saturn bios. mine is 512KB.

once you run the program you need to choose and setup the
plugins.

SH2 Plugin
i'm guessing SH2_dynarec_plugin_v1.0.dll should be the fastest.
no configuration needed.

VDP Plugin
only 1 plugin to choose.
i couldn't get it to accept any changes to the configuration.

SMPC Plugin
only 1 plugin to choose.
make sure you choose the correct country region for the game you
are going to emulate.
there isn't any option to change the controls yet unfortunately but
the default ones are set up for a french layout keyboard so they'll
be a bit strange on a UK or US keyboard.
Saturn:
up:Z
down:W
left:Q
right:S
A button: D
B button: F
C button: G
X button: E
Y button: R
Z button: T
L trigger: L
R trigger: M
Start: C

ST-V:
same thing for control (not numpad)
P1 coin: 3
P2 coin: 4
P1 start:1
P2 start:2
test: T,5
service: Y,6

CD Block Plugin
only 1 plugin to choose.
configure it to point to the iso image of game you want to run.
the image needs to be in the "cooked" format of mode 1/2048.

SCU Plugin
only 1 plugin to choose.
no configuration.

SCSP Plugin
only 1 plugin to choose.
not sure what disabling the 68000 does, so i just left it alone.

Other Options
Make sure in other options you've selected the correct bios files.

now the part that gave me the biggest headache.
trying to create a "cooked" iso of my games.
but here's how i do it,
using nero i select the image recorder, then cd copy.
this creates a .nrg file.
then using ISObuster i use open image file and select the .nrg file.
right click on the little image of the cd with a folder in the bottom
right corner and is labelled CD.
select Extract CD < Image > - User Data (*.tao, *.iso)
then save that.

i hope this helps anyone out there that's having problems with this
emulator as well.

Any player2 controls? I got Virtual On to the "choose your controller" screen but it insists that P2 is plugged in and won't continue without input from it.

Nope. Doesn't look like it. In the smpc plugin folder, the readme only states the controls for 1p. We definately need some updated plugins. ;)

We need an updated ISO plugin, I simply cannot "make" a cooked iSO out of my games. I have tried and tried and have given up

Use winiso. It can convert your bin files into iso's. That's the way I've converted all my saturn bins. And they've worked with satourne. Of course the compatibility is another story.
