View Full Version : Medievil 2

i was playing Medievil 2 (PAL) on Bleem 1.5b, enjoying the game, i had got past the first boss, and venturing on to the second level....as i saved and loading into the second level, it all went to ****.....
the cdrom had stopped, and on the screen was a picture, of a cd with a yellow triangular sign plastered to the side of it, with a black exclamation mark dead centre of the triangle....
it has got me puzzled to what the hell has happened, but on Epsxe it does the same thing except the screen goes black, instead of the cd and triangle thing....
so if anybody could help me,
it would be much appreciated

Sound to me like anti-mod protection. You'll probably need a patch. These are avialable at the usual places ;)

Yep, ßetamax is right. It's sorta odd that ePSXe doesn't show the CD exclamation screen, but that game stops there if you have a mod-chipped PSX. And, whatever it is doing to check for the modchip, it thinks the emus are one. What's really odd is that the U/C version of the game doesn't have the anti-mod protection, IIRC. It really sux, but there are GameShark codes out there that get around the anti-mod protection. You might be able to plug one of those codes into [pec], and get around that problem, although I've not tested it myself, so can't say for sure.
You can also patch it, but that requires making an ISO of the game, applying the patch, then (in bleem!'s case) burning it to a new CD (Of course, with ePSXe, you can run it from the ISO). And, as ßetamax said, they're available at the usual "patch" sites. ;)
Moderators: Sorry if this is pushing the rules a little, but I think we can all agree that there is nothing really wrong with cracking a game that is legally bought, to play it on an emulator...

thanx for all your help! it is much appreciated!
the only reason i buy games and play them on the emu, is cos of the graphic improvement...but i have a fail/safe arrangement with the psx console, just in case a particular game doesn't want to work with a emulator....

Many thanks to the specialists ! I`ve found a patch for this game simple with google search after reading your posts, and now my 8 year son can enjoy this game with ePsXe. At first I thought it was a disc/cd fault, then an emulator problem. reading your suggestion more early can save time with useless experiments.
Thanks again !
as a newcomer I was totally blank.
now i`m a bit more dirty - its good.
