Sorry, The Matrix is the Matrix(The Wachowsky Brothers are geniuses), I'm surprised how I enjoy everything related to it ;)
Kid A
April 24th, 2003, 15:38
Sweet. I read an interview with the Wachoskies and they said they've put a lot of effort into the special effects; they wanted them to be unique, and impossible (or at least very expensive) to imitate. Why? Well, because tons of movies have been ripping off the Matrix's effects (bullet time, the 360º camera, etc). I am really looking forward to seeing what they are capable of, but I don't think the story will be as good as in the first movie.
caipirinha
April 24th, 2003, 15:49
i´m betting the story will be just as good, but it won´t be as surprising as the first one was.
yeah i read an interview with the producer, and he said the same thing, they were aiming for special effects so hard to make that they won´t be copied in a couple of years, hope they are not over-hyping this :p
Phoenix
April 24th, 2003, 17:48
well that's obvious, back to 1999 the lack of real interesting special effects that normaly weren't developed in the US movies was a tremendous shock, in the other hand those kind of effects were somehow implemented in anime not to new at all. After bringing those effects to the movies it was logical that those scenes, the bullet time, the 360° slow motion, etc, were going to be pirated and made parodies with them, but a lot of people I know didn't like the movie at all, I guess they didn't understand it.
Maybe all the world could be expecting too much from this movie, but I don't think the Wachowsky brothers are going to screw it up.

Phoenix
April 25th, 2003, 03:04
yeah, this 4 weeks are going to past quickly, I'll have to pay attention on the ticket hunting at the box office, or maybe they sell the tickets before the premier I should have a plan, where I'm going to sleep prior the hour the movie begins to gain a good seat :D
caipirinha
April 25th, 2003, 05:31
lol here they usually sell the tickets before the premiere of really big movies, good luck for ya and after watching it make sure you´ll come here to discuss it ;)
yay i´ll buy mine as soon as they start selling ^_^

We'll discuss about it that's for sure ;)

I made all my friends, father, mother, aunts to see the movie, also a uncle who was sceptical became a Matrix fan. That was satisfactory :D

Hugo Weaving is an amazing actor, heh he made that queen of desert drag queen, elrond, and the best of all agent smith >_< yay , hey what injures he suffered in the first matrix? i heard they were pretty bad but that only came on the dvd version of the behind the scenes video, and i was at my friend's and he rented the vhs one
edit: if you pay attention almost all the usual posters changed their avatars almost at the same time hehe
Not exactylIn Buddhist teaching, the law of karma, says only this: `for every event that occurs, there will follow another event whose existence was caused by the first, and this second event will be pleasant or unpleasant according as its cause was skillful or unskillful.' A skillful event is one that is not accompanied by craving, resistance or delusions; an unskillful event is one that is accompanied by any one of those things. (Events are not skillful in themselves, but are so called only in virtue of the mental events that occur with them.)

Believe it or not I haven't bought the DVD yet. I believe that they'll sell a special set including all the three movies with extra cool stuff later, maybe I should wait for it ;)
IIRC, Carrie Ann Moss also suffered some injuries, ankle injuries as well as Keanu Reeves. I don't remember Weaving being injured. Lawrence Fishburne had a tough time doing the bathroom scene in which Morpheous and Agent Smith are fighting, he couldn't stand the dust all over his face, his eyes were very irritated and was sneezing.
Avatars with Matrix motives, mhh so far the only one that I've seen with one is ChaosBlade besides me, but I uploaded mine a long ago :)
Actualy, Carrie Ann Moss was the one that caused the most injuries in hte film. She wasn't good at letting the actors roll with the punches.... and kicks.
Phoenix
May 9th, 2003, 22:08
She had a hard time doing the kicks, sometimes she took it very seriously, she hit the stunt men very hard, not the usually way to do that(performed). The kicks were 100% real.
But tell me which actress else than Carrie Ann Moss would be better than her?, I guess not too much actresses would have accepted to do the role, I mean she had compromised almost a year in order to train Kung-Fu, practice all those complicated wire scenes as well.
I never said she did badly, more that she was bad at letting them roll with the punches like Jackie Chan is. But then again, Jackie chan is God.
Kid A
May 9th, 2003, 22:30
Well she is an actress after all, not a fighter. Nice new avatar Kane BTW. :D
Phoenix
May 9th, 2003, 22:36
of course, she's not Jackie Chan. He's one of a kind on what he does. His big mistake was to do movies in US. His magic was somehow stopped by the Hollywood style. The original movies made at Hong Kong are the best IMO.
Kid A you're right she'a an actress and performed very well in the Matrix ;)
Once again, you missed my point, but hey.
I agree with you mostly on Jakie's stuff. IMO his best fight scene was in Gorgeous and Police Sory has some of the best stunts ever (made all the better as we know there is no camera trickery)
Phoenix
May 10th, 2003, 05:48
I got your point, I wanted to extend a little bit my comment.
Those movies are the best, the action secuences are impressive and beautifully excecuted by him and the stunts.
Even Jackie injured didn't matter to continue shotting movies, I remember one of his movies at the credits showing him with a leg plastered and painted like if the plaster wouldn't exist, Jackie was moving like if everything was ok, that really impressed me. Jackie is a pro.
Back to the Matrix, the next week the tickets will be pre-sold here, they said that today were going to be sold but a whole week as a delay. Damn!

Rumble in the Bronx. He was 'water skiing' along behind the hovercraft with his leg in plaster.
In police story, the look of horror on hte actresses face when she is about to be chucked of the building is real, as Jackie does that for real and she didn't realise.
