Im a new to psx emulation; well i couldn't be bothered due to compatability problems etc.
I am able to run psx games, I have quite an old computer now;
dual processor; P2(x2) 523.824 RAM. My monitor is an Liyama A901 HT on Range Fury.
I have managed to run Final Fantasy 7 (FPS 40-70), Vagarant Story, Metal Gear Solid (turned sound off), Medal of honor underground. I do suffer a lot of slowing down in some cases such as the battles in Final Fantasy with stoop as low as 35 FPS for me.
I want to know people's opinions on if my PC specs are ample for psx emulation?
Thanks
PS: I just want to exceed 15 posts to add my own advantar thats why im posting this 'rubbish'.

ePSXe isn't designed for dual processors, so unless they are bothe above 500, I wouldn't say yes myself.

How do I find out exactly what my computer specifications are?
>AT or ATX PSU.
What go you mean Lord Kane?
In my computer properties its says
Service Pack3
x86 Family 6 Model 5 Stepping
2
AT/AT compatible
523.824 RAM
Thanks
PS:Games do work, just slightly slow in some cases, I have been a fan of emulation for some years now; Gba, Snes, N64 (Ive completed Ocarina Of Time, Majoras Mask and Conquers bad fur day).
Another question;
Does the computer laser in the CD dive scratch PSx Cds?? Is it good to slow the speed down?
Cheers!

>What go you mean Lord Kane?
It's to do with Power Supply. You have an AT compatible system.
Do you know what speed the individual processors are?
>Does the computer laser in the CD dive scratch PSx Cds?? Is it good to slow the speed down?
No, not AFAIK. I run games from an ISO

Im not sure the speeds of my processors but I know that they are above 450 and under 500. How do i find out??
I use ISO's too as Im scared that the PC laser will do something bad to the disk.

That helps a lot. I'm not a fan of the RagePro, but you should be able to run it in Pete's D3D 6.0 plugin. Failing that, use E}I{'s Soft GPU. You can get plugins here (http://www.ngemu.com/psx/epsxe.php?page=plugins).
>I use ISO's too as Im scared that the PC laser will do something bad to the disk.
It won't do anything bad to the disc. There is no physical contact with the disc surface.

Thanks, but i know the locations
I use Petes open GL plugin the most
Should i be using D3D? - Ive had more problems with this plugin e.g. final fantasy 7
Do you have a PSmplay? Does it work?
I have moo-save-state too is is neccessary; do you use it?
Surely the PC laser scans the CD doesn't it? If it doesn't, whats the point in having different speeds?

Please answer my previous post
Just wondering, how long do you guys spend playing?
I used to spend 10-18 hours with mmorpgs but with epsxe and emulation alike - five hours

Not really sure, as I've never never used the Rage Pro for emulation.
>Do you have a PSmplay? Does it work?
Yes, and yes. Just make sure Force ASPI is installed.
>I have moo-save-state too is is neccessary; do you use it?
Not neccasery, but it's uful for plugin and emu authors.
>Surely the PC laser scans the CD doesn't it? If it doesn't, whats the point in having different speeds?
Yes it does scan the disc. It projects monochromatic light at the disc. No physical contact with the disc surface.
There is an edit button. Please don't double post.
I don't play games that much anymore.
