Am I the only one waiting for this release or what? There hasn't been any word on the game for quite some time now. Konami's website says it'll be out this month but no specific date.

Correction; the game is already out for the Xbox, but the US release date for the PS2 version for Substance is 3/4/03.

Oh stop the screwin' and start playin'. :D
I guarantee ye, MGS has one of the most solid storyline's you'll ever come across for a game of its genre, heck, probably even for all genres. Forget about Morrowind's graphics for once. ;)

ah....mgs on psx,I just finished it!my codename is CAT;) Anyway,it is kinda strange that liquid snake can survive all those things...
Drack
March 5th, 2003, 00:30
Yes, lets review all the times you kill liquid in MGS. You blow up his helicopter, destroy the cockpit of Metal Gear of which he is in, throw him off the top of metal gear, shoot him multiple times, and then he is blown up by a massive bombing of the area. Still his arm still survives to be put on Revolver Ocelot.

Thanks for the spolier about ocelot. I have not played metal gear solid 2ĦĦĦĦĦĦ

Whoops sorry about that but don't worry, its not THAT big of a spoiler. You find that out in the first half-hour of the game.

March 5th, 2003, 08:18
Well, im a little relieved. Btw, i just checked the trailer of the E3 (i think) of mgs2 and Ocelot appears with two handsĦ I Just didn't remember (and i though it was due some sort of operation but nothing referring to Liquid).

More MGS1 spoilers:
Don't forget about being hurled out of a speeding jeep(even though that seems like nothing compared to some of the other stuff he survives), but none of that actually killed him. If it wasn't for Naomi and the Fox Die nano-virus Liquid would've gotten up and stomped Snake's head into the ground. Well, probably not, but we'll never know what the outcome would've been if the Fox Die hadn't kicked in at that crucial moment. It certainly made it seem like Liquid had a huge advantage since Snake's legs were trapped under a jeep and no guns in reach.

to think liquid had the bad genes...then just think of what solid snake could survive:D anyway, does that codename thingy have any meaning??(the codename you get at the scorescreen when you finish the game)

Actualy, the bombing doesn't occur, the colonel manages to cancel it once the Minister of Defense gets removed of his functions.

Hmm, in fact, if you listen to the very last dialogue between Ocelot & Solidus at the end of MGS, you learn that Solid Snake is the one with the inferior genes, not Liquid.

^^ Nope you said liquid had the bad genes. ^^
But it doesn't seem to make that much of a difference. Snake is a match for Liquid anytime, anyplace.
I'm just waiting for Kojima to make a sequel where they announce another clone brother who has the most inferior genes and is code named Flaccid (http://www.yourdictionary.com/ahd/f/f0157700.html) Snake.

BTW I thought that Solidus was made after the other two...so why does he look so much older. Maybe the stress of a life in war and politics aged him beyond his years.

Yeah that's pretty much where I was going with that joke. It cracks me up to think about Snake yelling out Flaccid's name the way he does with Liquid practically every time he sees him.
"FLAAAACCIIIIID"
Maybe it would be even funnier if Snake developed Flaccid as an alter ego.

Oh yeah, that's right. Otacon loved Sniper Wolf. He gave Snake a handkerchief that she had and it protected Snake from the wolves.
I always wanted the wolves to come eat her body like the ravens did with Vulcan Raven.

Yes, it does, great i just bought one two months ago.
And about Otacon, yes you are right she was in love with Sniper Wolf. My brother recalled me the time i thought that way about him: i got the good ending first and the the one with otacon and Snake, then i said otacon looked a little strange (he used almost the same words Meryl used and if she looked so in love when saying those words...) Anyway just forget what i said.

Yeah, and it's a good thing, that way, it'll accelerate the instalations of DVD drives, and we'll get more games on DVDs(which means bonsues, higher res videos and such ^^).

the xbox version wasn´t released on japan because of the small install base, heh the pc user base must be even smaller, i guess i´m out of luck :)
and yeah it was about time pc games get released on dvd, in the beginning of the cd no one complained about the cd version of games they would just go out and buy the drive

March 8th, 2003, 10:43
? you must mean the first MGS. Try this controller damaging trick:
take a pen with its cap on (preferrably rounded or curved) and run it back and forth over the button as quickly as you can.
For me, I can do it by pressing normally pretty easily. I'm just that good. :p
Adair
March 8th, 2003, 11:07
I did basically what Alias suggested about the pen, but I just used my fingernail. Luckily the PS2 controller buttons are curved in a way so you can just rub back and forth real fast.
I never did like the button tapping parts though; seems like a dumb way to represent struggling for breath.
MGS2 spoiler:
I got through the second "button tapping" scene in MGS2 on extreme difficulty without losing any life with that method:)
caipirinha
March 8th, 2003, 16:05
you can also get your shirt , cover your finger with it and rub it really fast on the controller.
but i did it easily without this, not even if i wanted i could, hehe how would i rub my keyboard ?

Yes, at some point new technology has to change and leave old tech behind. Evident in the transfer to Windows 9x to NT. Its not like can't buy a PS2 or DVD-ROM drive. Anyways would you want a 6 cd install that takes up a huge chunk of your HD.
Kazuya
March 12th, 2003, 09:11
6 cd? Ha, i would like to see if nintendo can sell a 4 dvd rom game at the same price and keep saying it doesn't matter the size of their media.
