As some of you know InterAct(maker of GameShark) had announced its going out of business as of 1/14/03...
Datel (http://www.codejunkies.com/) however announced on 1/20/03 that they would continue to support GameShark products:
Datel is the developer behind GameShark and naturally the only credible source capable of creating new codes that are 100% compatible with both the new Action Replay and previously sold GameSharks", says Ken Tarolla, Senior Vice President of Datel Design & Development. "We feel it is our responsibility to support the large and loyal following of current GameShark owners that have supported us over the years. Action Replay is not so much a new beginning as it is the next step in the evolution of where Datel intends to take the game enhancement category. We are confident that current GameShark owners will move with us in short order to take advantage of the new features and capabilities that only the new Action Replay provides. Until that time, we will not leave them behind. It has been announced (http://www.businesswire.com/cgi-bin/f_headline.cgi?bw.012303/230232093&ticker=MCZ&ticker=MCZ.TO) today that MadCatz has acquired the GameShark brand and the www.gameshark.com URL from InterAct. This acquisition should ensure the continuity of GameShark product supply.
Note: the GameShark website isn't back up quite yet.
Sounds like good news for the console and emulation gaming communities.
