I heard of this awhile ago, Microsoft have already bought the rights for Shenmue 2 and it's been translated into english now. This probably means they have the rights for the entire series.

Considering how badly Shenmue II is selling on XBox one might be skeptical.

Looking at sales figures, I highly doubt we'll ever see the ending to the Shenmue series. :( Too bad... it's got a great storyline.

I certainly hope it does come out, I really enjoyed the first Shenmue. I haven't played the second, but I might if I decide to buy an Xbox(I have $350 burning a hole in my wallet) and then there's Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach volley ball:heh:

Dude, Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach volley ball is a bigger scam than FFX-2:D

I'll believe it when I see it. Shenmue II sold all of 20,000 copies on Xbox. That's beyond sad. That's not even profitable.

I thought Shenmue ended in Shenmue II???? They better not make 10,385 Shenmue games, quit while your ahead before you ruin the series :p A Trilogy would be nice though.

What do you mean? my interest in the game lies purely in the volleyball, volleyball being the popular sport it is:p
anyway, I've been pissed off for the longest time about Microsoft buying the rights to shenmue for their console. It would have made more of a profit if it were to have been multi platform. they could have at least released it on the Dreamcast as a last Hurrah for the system.

They did.
Shenmue wasoriginaly on the DC.
Shenmue 2 was released in Japan and in Europe on the DC as well

wasnīt shenmue supposed to be a big series from the beginning?

15 chapters or so, but each one is about 3 chapters IIRC.

Yep, I knew it was released in Europe and Japan, but not over here in the U.S. Which really sucks because in order to play the game, I would have to import the game and vga adapter... Kinda pricey for just one game IMHO

Why the VGA adaptor? Don't you already have one?
Futhermore, you are complaining about missing out on one game in States? Come and live in Europe for a while man.

Might I suggest Sega's Beach Spikers on Nintendo GameCube?

I've been wanting to rent that game for a while, it's just that PSO and Metriod prime won't let me out of their clutches:evil:
Also gotta start playing Suikoden 3 and RE0, that I picked up for myself during the holidays.

I would get excited about Shenmue 3, but its on Xbox and I don't want to get a Xbox just for that game, makes me wish Dreamcast was still alive

Beach Spikers is actually a pretty fun game. I liked the fully customizable players, and the controls were simple but very effective. It's a load of fun with two players.

Don't sweat it, those pictures are as old as Shenmue II on the DC (well not that told) the assumptions on that site aren't anything new... those pictures are from a workstation or something like that. I have seen them months before Shenmue IIx were even released...
Though I'd hope that this could be true...
> 15 chapters or so, but each one is about 3 chapters IIRC.
Not quite, the first Shenmue was only one chapter long. Shenmue II was 4 chapters long, though the last one was more of an epilogue for the time being. I don't know why Shenmue II was 4 chapters long, I have the theory that they rushed things because of the "Dreamcast funeral"... but it's just what I think.
On a side note Shenmue II included a video of when the game was going to be released on the Saturn... funny how it showed scenes that haven't been reached yet on the two Shenmue games... who knows, maybe they just need a platform to continue...

why did shenmus II for the xbox sell so bad???
i mean hey, its like the only apealing game on the xbox i saw...
this is strange...
but anyway, i dont think shenmue is REALLY dead, those figures would only mean that the games will never make it to the USA again ;)
if it can only be sold in japan though, that means that it cant possibly be developed for the xbox...
and since sega doesnt develop games for the PS2 that would mean they could only chose the GC and a feeling tells me that THIS just isnt gonna happen. i think sega is only releasing weak games they dont care about for the GC.
so, if another shenmus ever is developed, i think it will be for a new console.

uhhh they donīt care about sonic adventures and beach spikes? i think itīs totally possible, the next console bet is also possible, as the same happenned with the saturn already.

I guess Sega doesn't care about Skies of Arcadia either. ;)

Mmmm... just a question. What about Shinobi 4 and Virtua Fighter 4 ? Are they from another comapany ? Who said that Sega doesn't develop games for the PS2...

shinobi was made by another company, sega just published it.

Really ? My bad... I thought it was from Sega... in the old days was from Sega right ?
Carmofin
January 8th, 2003, 18:41
yes they dont care :p
its old software from the dreamcast that never was bought by many people, so there should be a market thats big enough to earn a fast buck with a cheap port.

Ah and it has nothing to do with the customisable bikinis?:p
gouki29
January 8th, 2003, 20:58
The bikini editor was taken out:cry: I can see the reason though, skin colored bikini anyone?
However, anyone looking to put the girls in ultra skimpy bikinis will not be dissapointed.;)
