Well, i am having a speed issue with tactics ogre, i have a very powerful configuration that has no trouvble runnning anything...

I have used the same emu and config to run other roms also (golden sun, mario kart etc)

but... tactics ogre has a persistant slowdown problem, it is almost unplayable when not on speed mode (holding down that key)

if anyone has any suggestions it would be appreciated...

Whats the version of the emulator you have because VBA 1.3.1 has a new bug fix the fixes the frame skiiping
try VBA1.3.1

I have the newest version from NGemu... it is version number
1.31...

I think however that tactics ogre is simply a "slow" game, meaning that it simply has slow animations etc, I tried it out on a friends GBA and found it was the same speed as when i emulate it...
thatnks for the advice though

on a side note, turn up that sound quality a notch ;) 11khz is way too low....

It's funny see a powerfull system like that run slow!!
I also had already that same card, and it also ran well, it was in overclock @ 250/191

if you have AA on or anistrophic filtering on try turning them off.

That halps a little bit (filtering off). Just a note: the version of Tactics Ogre that I have is one of those stupid altered M-7 (or whatever) dumps; that might have something to do with it although I don't think that adding an tag-header can really screw up an image... !! :eyes:

On a more related note *ahem* , I have discovered that my friend has the same copy of the rom and is not expierencing any speed issues...

Try this run regedit and search for VisualBoyAdvance{Click Edit&ltFind},(make sure only the look at "Key" is the only one checked) delete the key then rerun VBA, (back up your registry before you delete any key!!) The key will be under HKEY_CURRENT USER.

Here is a screen of what I am seeing.
Also: really stupid question that I really SHOULD know the answer to; where is the registry so that I can back it up?

When you search for Visual Boy Advance look for this....

The Key for Visual Boy Advance will look like this.It will have this stuff, If it has any other stuff then it is the wrong one.

O.K. I have done this. It simply reset all the settings in VBA to their default values and made no difference at all to speed (except that frame skipping was set higher in the default settings so it ran 'faster' but really cludgy).

I have played tactics ogre on a borrowed GBA and found that the game ran fairly slow (but not AS slow as what I am expierencing). Then I tried it on a different computer running under VBA and discovered that the same ROM runs much faster then on my computer. This pretty much sums up what has been mentioned in previous posts; just to clarify.

If you look you will see that this thread is quite old, I recently completed the game by running it while pressing the key for no frame limiting to make it fast enough to be playable.

More or less, I think that I shall shortly give up on this problem.

Thanks to all who tried to help though!
