why did you choose bryce?? did you ever try 3d studio max, it's better for overall designing/animating, bryce is mostly for terrain designing and relief :)

Well, 3DSMAX *IS* hard to learn but it's *the* almighty program out there... I also tried it out 4 years ago, and my computer rendered 3 or 4 days for a scene with grass that was 1:10 min long!!! With actual hardware it won't take so long, of course. Remember, you only understand what you do, so give it a try!! Btw, the pics are nice but the second one looks a little bit unprofessional (you can see the two textures extremely on the earth, for example).

actually, 3ds max i believe is easier to learn than maya, and maya is a little more commonly used in the gaming industry (blizzard, squaresoft, etc) although i havent ever tried it, i have 3ds but i got bored of the character tutorials and stopped learning it (specifically, if i wanted to make a character i wouldnt wanna make a lard-as*ed pigboy)

Art was never my strong suit. I tried using 3DStudio MAX, and I quit after 5 minutes. I was trying to make a TIE Fighter, and I couldn't get anything to work.

In one of my classes we are going to start 3DStudio Max. I miss good ol' autocad and Inventor4 :)
