Hello. Im pretty new to psx emulation, but so far epsxe work perfect. But I have one problem. I tried saving for the first time (Xmen vs Streetfighter) and I chose the slot and saved. But when I load the save, the game is all messed up, weird colored blocks all over the place. Am I doing something wrong, do I have to configure something first? Oh, and by the way, how exactly am I supposed to save? I push Esc, then go to run, and chose a slot.
I didnt know where to post this, as I didnt know is this was a plug-in problem or something else. So sorry is this is in the wrong forum.
Thanks in advance for your help.:)

I don't have this game, so I can't help you, but here's a hint: When asking for help here, post the configuration of you computer and the plugins you're using in ePSXe. This way it's more likely somebody will be able to help you.

From what you posted, I can give you a couple recomendations:
1) Try to use SCPH1001 or SCPH7502, since they're the recommended bioses for this emu.
2) Are you really using Pete's 1.41, or it's a typo? If you are, get the newest version here (http://home.t-online.de/home/PeteBernert/gpupete151.zip).
3) Since you have a Geforce, why don't you use one of Pete's Accelerated Plugins (OpenGL or Direct3D)? You'd get a better performance and improved graphics.
For using savestates, you can press ESC and use the menus, or use the keyboard shortcuts. From the ePSXe FAQ (http://www.psxemu.com/epsxe/download/ePSXe_FAQ.txt):
"Now ePSXe includes savestates support. F1 = save state, F2 = increase slot (max = 5), F3 = load state. The savestates are compressed and saved to the sstates directory, with an average size of 1.5Mb."
Hope this helps you!

Thank you for all your help. Ill try these things. I downloaded the 1001 bios, so Ill try that.
But when Im in the game, and I press F1-F3, it doesnt do anything, so I have to push Esc.
Also, the reason I dont use the openGL plugin, is because Ive tried it, but the graphics are real choppy. I guess I don't know how to properly configure it.
Edit- sorry, not choppy, I meant blocky

Yeah, u were right to use the pete soft plugin for a 2d game like this one...
The nvidia blur is doin' some miracles sometimes... ;)
(And if u want to put off those nasty pixelisated graphics on Pete s OGL plugin, try the extended filtering mode (the 2nd one in the filtering pannel )
or just try the scanlines if u cannot bear the tile effect of the filtering)
bye

Oh, so thats why the soft driver works good, cuz its 2D. Well, like I said, I mostly play fighters. Ill try that filtering thing. Thanks.

if u want to have as much empty memory cards as u like get epsxe cutor...(and it seems it is a very good option since the mdecs pannel has disappeared w/ epsxe 1.4.0...)
If u want memory cards w/ a lot of save games
find them at
www.gameshark.com
or even
http://nitestash.mplayer.com/

Thanks. What exactly does Epsxecutor do?

It's an ePSXe Executor, eg. a very nice ePSXe frontend, programmed by the one and only Pete Bernert.

It alows you to make a configuration for a specific game and save it as an icon within epsxecutor. This way when you click an Icon it launches the desired game with the config and with your selected memory cards. Its great when you have a few games and don't want to reconfigure every time you switch to a new game. As already stated it also allows for easy mem card creation and allows you to toggle mdecs on/off. for more info read the readme. Now go get it. Its a small file to download. Get it here http://www.psxemu.com/epsxe-download.shtml

Hey, this is cool! I can make as many Mem cards as I want! Heh.
So what exactly are Mdecs, and what do they do?
Rargh

Well mdecs are full motion video like for example in ff8 introduction
U see?
Computer Graphics.

Oh, I see. So its for FMVs. Does having them off affect the intros to some games, like Mat Hoffmans Pro Bmx, cuz when I play that game, it just skips the intro and goes to the title screen.
And speaking of Mat Hoffmans Pro Bmx, has anyone played it on Epsxe? I have a minor problem with it. When I start a game (either free ride or career) it picks my rider and the rest of the options for me, until the game starts.
