I'm new to PSX emulation, and have searched the forums for this problem without any luck.

I'm using ePSXe 1.5.2 (I have also tried AdriPSX) and Pete's OpenGL GPU Plugin 1.67. System is a Duron 900, 256MB SDRAM, GeForce2 Pro 64MB, and an SB Live. I've tried using my own GPU plugin settings (using Lord Kane's guide), as well as Lord Kane's and Nave's BATARD configs. I've played with pretty much all of the plugin settings, and gone over Lord Kane's guide several times. I've also tried Pete's D3D and DirectX 6 GPU plugins, as well as E}I{'s Soft Driver and the [Next3D] GPU Driver, but my problem remains.

Starting a new game, everything works great until I leave Serge's house and go one screen left (where there is a chief that teaches me the basics of fighting), and enter the hut on the left of the screen. There appear to be 6 people in this room and a green prism. The problem is that the background, as well as Serge, is nothing but "blue static" (see the screenshot below). If I try to talk anyone, the dialog box is also severely distorted (can't read the text), and if I exit the hut, everything looks fine again, except that Serge remains nothing but this blue static.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Hopefully I've included enough information. Thanks in advance :).

All the GPU's give you the same problem? When using Pete's GPU, look at the configuration screen and click the copy to the clipboard button. Then post the GPU's specs. I'm a little suspicious with the filtering settings.

BTW, I too have that game, and you are not required to enter that hut at all.

If you are running from an ISO, it may be a bad image. Try making it again.

Kane: Bingo! I figured if the ISO was damaged, the game wouldn't run at all :emb:. Thanks for your help, and thanks especially for your excellent site! :D

You weren't too far off, in my experience 90% of the time a damaged ISO will crash the emulator with an Opcode error. But sometimes it doesn't, with unpredictable results like the one you experienced. :)
