Cvgs freezes

In Cgvs, the game loads and works but when i press the escape key to pause the game, it crashes. Could someone please help me out. i've already tried re-installing it and even re-istall windows a couple times.

My systemn is a:
P3 665
128megs ram
30 gig hard drive
nec_dvd drive
sony expressa cd-r drive
voodoo 3 2000 card
Soundblaster live x gamer

I think there have been many threads before of this kind! all resulting down to having Nero installed!

If I remember correctly, removing Nero fixed the problem!

I dont think i ever did install nero. what is nero?
