Okay for some reason the intro CG for Legend of Mana is like 3 second long and I don't think it is supposed to be. There is some nice music, a fade in and then it looks like some multi-faceted crystal thing for, like I said, 3 seconds. Then it cuts to the main menu. Is it supposed to be like that or is there a problem? I tried running it off the ISO and the CD and they both do it!!

My system settings:

AMD Athlon 750 MHz
Voodoo 3 AGP
SB Live! MP3
384 MB SDRAM

(Lewpy's doesn't look very good in FF9, thats why I use Pete's D3D)

Whoa thats very odd. I never had a problem like that before. Anyways, you should use Lewpy's for most games. So when you play FF9, switch to Pete's. Hmmm...I dont know why that happends tho...does it happen when you play it in an actual console? If it does, return it and buy a new copy of the game.

it just gets weirder - so I switched to Lewpy's, some stuff looks good, but overall runs slower. I'm gonna stick with Pete's GPU for now cuz it runs the smoothest, but I read another thread about LoM and I took the advice given and turned on the SPU IRQ hack. Lo and Behold the opening movie plays now, but unfortunately the sound is choppy and causes the visuals to lag. Weird ***** huh? Other movies work okay, the game play is fine, but the opening movie don't work unless the SPU IRQ hack is on. Go figure

spu irq hack shouldn't be needed unless using the internal spu. what happens if you turn off all special hacks in the spu menu? i haven't had this game for a while but i do remember playing in using epsxe but that was when bleem was still being used.

tengen, the intro movie works like crap for me too. It will run fine for me, but the sound will either be scratchy and horrible, or non-existent. I tried using a variety of SPU plugins, and they all do it in a crappy manner. (some worse than others). Interestingly enough, the movie you get in a new game works pretty good. Go figure. I eventually got bored with it, and just watched the movie in PSMplayer.

I really don't know what your problem is Tengen, but it sounds sort of similar to my problem, so they might be linked. I will play with it some more later on, and let you know tomorrow how it turned out.

Actually, if you use Andy's SPU for Legend of Mana, it is a HELL of a lot smoother and better sounding. I fooled with all the settings in Eternal and PEOPS and turned the IRQ SPU on and off....Andy's was the only thing that played cutscenes flawlessly. My config window:

Like LK said.. When someone posts a new reply on a very old thread, it gets moved back into the current post list.. Just check the dates on the replies and you will see who did it..
