Wipeout 3 (SE) saving problems solved (another way) (http://www.ngemu.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=23733)
Parts of the Text:
There's a problem regarding saving in Wipeout 3 and Wipeout 3 SE on ePSXe. Usually you play that game, save and if you start that game again, all your saves are gone to Himalaya. I've read in the ReadMe and here in the Message Board that you should try it with savestates. But I guess I found another working way.
What do you need?
First of all you need two memory cards in your slots. Slot 1 can be every memory card (Wipeout 3 needs 1 block, Wipeout 3 SE needs 2 blocks), while slot 2 must be an empty or a new memory card.
Now the Trick:
PART 1 - SAVING:
1) First of all, start the game, do your settings, play a bit (or not) and save on the memory card (usually memory card 1)
(-> If you quit now wheter you overwritten your savegame or not, all you played free will be lost!)
2) After you played and you want to quit with your played free tracks/racers/records/cheats, simply save to the empty second(!) memory card (memcard 2). Do not overwrite the savegame on memory card 1.
3) Shut down the emulator
PART 2 - TRICKY PART AND LOADING
- Now there's the tricky part. If you want to play again later...
5) If you have other saves on your first memory card, backup it and erase it (if not, simply erase it)
6) Rename the second memory card from epsxe001.mcr to epsxe000.mcr (you simply exchange it)
7) Start the emulator again, it should produce a second new and empty memory card.
8) Load Wipeout 3 or Wipeout 3 SE again, it should automatically look for a savegame... and if you've done right... BINGO!
9) WO3(SE) loaded all your free played racers/tracks/records (and even cheats)
To save again, simply do the steps again (starting with Step 2).
I even tried to end the game via ESC (someone said that it autosaves this way), but it won't work either. I don't know why it only works this way but I read that you're working on it, so I won't rush you.
