dinput.dll error

all i get when i use epsxe with or with out direct input plugins is this,epsxe has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down,when i go to see what it is it's the dinput.dll, can this be fixed?

upgrade your directx......... to either 7a or 8a........ Or try reinstalling directx.......
