ok in the second disc just after leaving the the place with all the rally-hoe dwarves i'm chasing some black mage into this forest with owls so i get through the forest and just as zidane starts to walk up to the black mage i get a black screen and it just sits there think any of you know a way past this? thx

Using savestates? Don't.. Try a different cd rom pluggin..

well i was using save states up to that point BUT i loaded a save from my memory card and tried going there with out using save states no go same black screen also i am using an iso of my real cd so changing the cd plugin is out i tried with the real cd and the iso same thing if anyone could like give me a save state for right after that point that might help too

BUMP please can anyone help me with this it's driving me crazy i've beaten xenogears and breath of fire 3 with no problems on epsxe and this is the first time it's acted up on me

Tell us the name of your graphics card and what plugins you are using, plus, the setting for those plugins.

no i don't think it's because my computer is slow i am running 1.2 ghz athlon with 512 ddr and a ati radeon 7000 a saved game or a saved state for right after that point would be nice if anyone could also help me out oh and about the plugins i am using pete d3d i tried the open gl one i tried all manor of diff settings from a million web sites i dunno what to do hehe

My next guess is that you've got a fecked up disk (IIRC an mdec happens next.) Your best chance is to post a memcard and have someone bypass that part for you. (BTW please state the language/region your copy is , eg US,Uk,french...)

Have you tried Pete's P.E.Op.S. plugin?
I had this problem but it was solved using this plugin. :D
