It seems that you can't "Use" objects and stuff if you are unarmed. Like at the very beginning, try hitting that switch to active the elevator while you dont have anything in your hands and nothing will happen. But then if you equip your gun or knife and then try it, it will work. This doesn't sound like a big problem until you get to CD2, where you have to make Hana drop her towel. Since you are unarmed, you can't do it, thus you can't proceed in the game. Any ideas how to get past this?
