I've been having problems with Star Ocean: the Second Story and Persona 2: Eternal Punnishment. My problems with Star Ocean are minor, and include the title screen not showing properly, along with odd colored borders at the top and bottom(I've seen white, pink, and green early in the game). Is there any way to fix these? Just minor annoyances, but it would be nice to get rid of them.

My problems with Persona 2 are a bit worse though. I haven't seen any compatibility lists anywhere, so I don't really know whether it should work with the emulator or not, but here go. When I try to enter the teacher's lounge on the second floor of the school near the start of the game, the emulator freezes up. I generally have to shut off my computer to fix it. It works well up until that point, and I can go in other rooms and wander around fighting enemies, but when I open that door the screen goes black and everything locks up.

In case it helps, here are my video settings:

The Star Ocean thing is a plugin issue. I don't remember if there's a way to fix it with Pete's probably not. :(

About Persona 2: EP, I know it works in ePSXe, I played it a lot recently. It may be some issue with your CD, so making an ISO image might help. You can also post a memcard near the crashing spot and I'll test it here.

Hmm...I tried running it from an ISO, and instead of freezing, I got the following message in the DOS prompt when I entered the door, the emulator shutting down:

*Closing spu ...
*Closing gpu ...
*Shutdown gpu ...
*Closing ISO system ...
Opcode 35 UNK (PC 00097004) (80314,35)

I will post a save state right at the door if you would try it.

edit: In trying to post a save state, I have found that my school's webspace no longer allows FTP uploads. I have to be on the network to connect to it, and unfortunately my network jack is 120 miles away from me right now.

I've found that the later pete GPU plugins are fickle about Persona 2: Eternal Punishment.

Try using a version that hasn't had the Soul Hackers "fix" yet, and if you're not doing this, run ePSXe with the command line -noignorecmd

That might keep you from asking about further problems such as voice clips running endlessly, and they WILL do that, if you don't have -noignorecmd.

Er, I'm not going to assume you're stupid, but a way to run command lines is to make a shortcut for epsxe, and in the file location under properties, type it in after the pathway.

It should look like

"C:\Windows\otherdirectoryshiznat" -noignorecmd

Hope that helps. :)

Thanks, the problem was the plugin. I tried version 1.59(the Soul Hackers fix was in 1.6), and it is working.

Yeah, it's a good idea to keep multiple versions of things in the same directory, so you can copy and paste the files as needed.

I had to do that when I wanted to play Eternal Punishment, and then SRW Alpha.
