Alright, I suppose before I detail the problem, I should probably give out the system specs

p3-500
128 sdram
voodoo 3 3000 agp
LG CRD-8400B
Soundblaster live

I really dont think those settings are actually relevant but you never know. Ok here is my problem, I recently got ff7 and started playing it for the first time (so sue me im 5 years behind everyone else). Well everything played fine and dandy for a while, until I hit cd 2. At this one part in the game, right after a confusing bit at the beginning of the second CD where cloud dissappears and Tifa is about to be executed. The scene switches to Rufus and Heidegger preparing to fire on the Emerald Weapon. The problem is this, right at this juncture, the game ceases to continue, The music continues to run, but its as if the game is frozen even though ePSXe is running fine. At first I thought this was because of a defect in the CD(I got a used CD from EB) and indeed there was a small crack near the center of the CD. So I purchased another copy, brand new, and still end up with the exact same problem. The exact error occurs exactly after the 3 little Shinra sailors dash off the screen. Before the last sailor leaves, the screen flickers for a fraction of a second, Heidegger runs to the other side, and then boom, no movement, but the music continues to run. Even with a brand new CD this happens, so its not any fault of the disc. I can hear my CD drive frantically trying to access something which Im assumeing is an FMV of a cannon being fired. Ive tried using the core ePSXe cd plugin, Petes, Sapu's, and Mooby's. All of them failed to correct this problem. Ive also tried using both Petes OpenGL, The Peops open source drivers, Petes D3D, and of course Lewpy's and none of these also fixed the problem. Ive created an ISO of the 2nd CD, ran it fine, but when I approached the same area, the fps took a noticeable dip, ePSXe began frantically accessing my hard drive, the same small flicker, and bam Im stuck. So if anyone has a clue how to fix my dillemna, Id be forever grateful cause im at my wit's end right about now. Oh and Im not about to give up 20 hours worth of effort and go back to playing it on that mini playstation as I lack the hardware neccessary to transfer save files.

Try using this config in ePSXecutor(watch out for the button config!).

Im a little confused as to what Im supposed to do with that registry file, but anyways a new thought just came to me, someone could just take the save file and try to play past the part im at, save, and then send it back :D. I have not had any other problems with ff7 and hopefully I can bypass it this way.

You can use this reg file with ePSXecutor(know that program right ?).
Well, anyway,ou can post your memcard, someone will pass this part for you.

Well I dragged the registry over to the ePSXe executable and it launched, unfortunately it had mix results, the first time I launched it, It ran under my original settings, second time it launched, but my save states nor the mem card saves did not register and upon minimizing, it said something about the memcards not be saved to the disks, upon closeing ePSXe, it crashed with a little red X

Nah,ePSXecutor is a frontend for ePSXe,you can make some configs for your games so that you don't have to config ePSXe each time.

Im pokeing myself as I speak, I only now noticed I could upload zip files instead. Well heres both of the mem cards in their original file extensions in a nicely bundled zip. Oh and if you can, delete those two prior posts with the text/mcr files, or dont, no biggy

Just downloaded the ePSXecutor and used that config, unfortunately didn't fix anything, only hope now is someone downloads the save and plays me past the part

Huzzah! I solved my own problem, I went over the ePSXe downloads section and downloaded the older v 1.5.0 of ePSXe and when I got to the section that stalled prior, sure enough, the FMV clicked in and everything ran fine. So there seems to be probably a minor bug in the 1.5.2 that wasn't present in an earlier build.

hey two things

What does ePSXeXecuter (or however you cap it) do? I have never had a need for it I can organize everything fine and run very few problems in ePSXe...

Another thing.... You could have mentioned he/she (cmdjing) could make an image file of the CD and play from that... oh well its solved at least and gives something to be fixed in ePSXe, right?

ePSXecutor is a tool for having multiple configs for ePSXe. Some games don't like certain options. Others require them.
