I know u all ppl must be TIRED of my hardware probs, but hey, here goes another one ;)

Well, today i excahnged my integrated sound card (the one attached to the MOBO) w/ a creative vibra 128. Well, the sound quality imporved a lot, but i can only run an application w/ sound at a time. example, i started winamp to play some mp3 whyle plying Midtown madness, and MM didnt give any sound. I tryed worms and an error came telling that the device was already being used by another app (winamp i guess)
Well, that didnt happen w/ the integrated one, so is there anyway to fix this?

Well telling U the truth man.........Vibra 128 is not a good card....!The problem that U are tellin surely depends upon the capability of your sound card..........I have a creative live Value!......trust me man it is the best deal U can ever have..........Take it this way....!

Live is the G-force of all 3dblasters.......hehe........:)

Maybe your new sound card is not a full duplex sound card, ie. you are not able to play more than one wave device at the same time, or record a wave file whilst playing a wave file. The SoundBlaster Live! can do this. Correct me if I am wrong. :)

yeah, i know it isnt a GREAT card but its still better than the internal one. Well, anyway, its not a problem of the card, the same happens w/ my friend, so ill have to stick to it ;)
thks anyway...

I would rather use the internal one with slightly worse quality, but ability to play multiple waves. only playing one wave is how my old soundcard was, but I now have sblive xgamer.
BTW I just noticed your personalized title. Very nice.

IT SOUNDED LIKE S**T!!!!!!! the sound got distorted every 5 minutes whyle playing swat or some emus (n some more games like AOE II) so its an improval, guess i gotta deal w/ this prob ;)

I guess that if it is a full duplex problem it would hurt to try updating the sound drivers.

Darn. Nothing in manual about duplexing. Have you fully disabled the onboard card? Maybe a conflict?
