When I run Tekken 3, all the menus are blurry and it usually crashes while loading. Can anyone help me?

I run Tekken with this machine/specs
k6-2 500Mhz wiht 192 MB Memory (PC 133 running at 100MHz)
Video Card: SIS530 8MB
Sound Card: C-Media 8788 (On board)
Peteīs D3D (lastest version) set to 800 x 600 16 bits, FPS Limit, Frame Skip and Autodetect FPS limit / Frame Skip (without any other option selected)
Ethernal SPU plugin (lastest version) with any option selected and buffer set to 4
CD ROM= I run the game from and ISO

During the game without XA music I have only get around 18 to 22 FPS in Mdecs movies and 23 to 24 FPS during game .
I only have three problems:
1. How i get more speed and FPS?
2. How could i enable the XA music only in mdecs movies (I remember that old ePSXe version allow you to do that but i canīt do it)
3. After see the ending there are a screen that says "The Iron Fist Tournament", when i reach this point the emulator gets blak and noting happens i have to reset the emulator to solve the problem (and the new character - ending is not registered). To solve that i simply push start a second before Mdec movie finish and the problem is solved.

Decoy: Please include your plugin settings

Kabuto:
1. Your system is a bit old, so you'll have to disable a few options in order to improve speed. You could try disabling sound completely and lower the resolution down to 640*480. It also might be worth trying running the game on a software plugin, as you video card might be too slow for d3d.

2. You can press f6 to switch on/off xa whilst in game

It's most likely your videocard that's holding you back. On-board video isn't exactly the best for 3D gaming. Try using a software plug-in and see if it's any faster.

Well thaks for the f6 tip, I run the game at a lower resolution and the diference itīs about 1 or 2 FPS more and a lose of grafics definition, i have tried a lot of times diferent configurations and i realized that the sound itīs the weak point of my system when i diseabled the sound at all i get even 10 FPS more. (But play without sound sucks).

Anyway two cuestions:
1. do you if there are plugins 3DNow optimized?,
2. Wich plugin /configuration you advise me for sound

yes, pete's plugins are, i have stated this and i guess i will again, if the CORE of epsxe (not gpu) use 3dnow! it would give a large increase. 3DNow isn't just a 3d speeder upper (lol) it just speeds up the weak FPU in the k6-2, in most cases, making it faster than a similarly clocked PII. btw, does GLdirect allow cards with bad ogl support to support it better? if it isnt tell me what its for, thanks. :)

I have a geforce 3 ti 500, so I don't think that could be a problem. For my gpu, I use Pete's DX6 D3D Driver 1.55.

Plugin: Pete's OpenGL Driver 1.1.63 or D3D (openGL is faster on most cards)

- 1024x768 Fullscreen - Desktop changing [32 Bit]
- Keep psx aspect ratio: off

Textures:
- R8G8A8A8
- Filtering: 6
- Garbage collection: on
- VRam size: 32 MBytes

Framerate:
- FPS limitation: on
- Frame skipping: off
- FPS limit: 60

Compatibility:
- Offscreen drawing: 4
- Framebuffer texture: 3
- Framebuffer access: 4
- Alpha multipass: on
- Mask bit: on
- Advanced blending: on

Misc:
- Scanlines: off
- Line mode: off
- Unfiltered FB: on
- Dithering: on
- Screen smoothing: on
- Game fixes: off [00000000]

ePSXe SPU core 1.5.0. or Pete's DSound Audio Driver 1.15

Pete's CDR ASPI/IOCTL Driver 1.8 limt 2x / async read / ALWAYS in combination with DAEMON TOOLS (www.daemon-tools.com)

System ROM Version 4.1 (E) (971216) (Sony) [SCPH7502].bin, or System ROM Version 4.1 (U) (971216) (Sony) [SCPH7001].bin

for some games you need ePSXe 1.40 or 1.51 to play because they need correct cd timing (like f.e. Gran Turismo II).

works great with tekken 3 too ;)

Well i will quoten the GLDirect software description:
"SciTech GLDirect is the utility package for Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP that combines the power of the OpenGL API with the wide availability of Direct3D hardware drivers. It accomplishes this by enabling OpenGL based games and applications to access 3D hardware acceleration through the Direct3D 7.x drivers provided by your graphics hardware manufacturer. The OpenGL API is the cross-platform, high performance standard for 3D graphics applications."

The software has two drivers one for CAD aplications and another for Games (3d Now optimized), for old cards owners it's a good choise. But the amount of features avaliables dependes on the card that you have. For some reason the Game drivers give me 5 or 6 FPS more when i activated and play Tekken 3, the bad point it's shareware (30 days evaluation period).

Version 1.55 is quite old ;).

To Kabuto: For your 3rd question,it must be a bug with the emulator because after extensive testing we didnt solve it in any way at psxfanatics forum...so u just press start to skip it :)

I have been using the software for a long long time.
It doesnt effect direct 3d applications in anyway. It only enables you to play opengl based games on your direct3d card.
I cant understand how you are supposed to get 5 fps more when using direct3d plugin.
Yes,if you are using opengl plugin(which would be really slow on your card) then it may help a bit.
So there is no point of your post here.

Well, at the moment i don't know why Gldirect give more FPS, i think that this happens because the driver has an option related to Vsync, but i don't know if this is thereason or what is the cause.

My recomendation, if you install GLdirect don't any performance increase if you aren't using a OpenGL plugin, i agree taht it's helps a lot in old cards, Quake 2 looks great in my PC.

So basically with epsxe this crap isnt going to go away?

Why dont you try other emulators and see if they show the same problem ? Coz most people got it right with epsxe so there appears to be some sort of problem with your cd(about crashing).
older versions of pete's plugins needed short dma chain fix enabled but 1.63 version should run the game without problems.
Anyway opengl plugin is recommended for geforce3.
