GT 2 still wont work wit older epsxe versions

Did you Enabled accurate cd rom timing option ?

Its required to run that game.

Strange as it may seem, I am able to run GT2 sim and arcade disks fine on epsxe 1.5.2.. No enable accurate cd rom timing needed.. It's probably a region thing...

Do what prafull said, enable accurate cd rom timing in the older versions of epsxe..
