But in South Africa the school system is heavily influenced by the brittish system which means neat and tidy school uniform and neat and tidy and thus propperly shaved kids, also no jewelery etc (watches are ok but that's basically it). Some schools even go so far as to restrict hair clips and alice bands etc. to certain colours.
Unfortunately this can be a major pain in the rear cuz the school uniforms aren't exactly suitable for a hot african summer.

I should find one of my old school pics and post it up so you can see my uniform XD

I have relatives from the UK come over twice a year (they can't speak Urdu), and then there's communicating with teachers at school (in private schools, talking to any faculty member in Urdu is considered almost a sin and all you get in return is a "WTF was that?" look) so my spoken English gets regular practice as well.

Sounds like they may be going to Crawford college (that it's name, it's not really a college in the american sense). Most of the time that school is incredibly lax but whenever there's an official function of some sort you gotta wear the whole shebang just like at my school. Either that or they're not in high school/secondary school yet.
Granted though I probably did go to one of the strictest schools when it comes to uniform and my province probably has the largest brittish influence in SA so it could be schools in other provinces are also a little more lax. My dad even had to wear a hat XD

But in South Africa the school system is heavily influenced by the brittish system which means neat and tidy school uniform and neat and tidy and thus propperly shaved kids, also no jewelery etc (watched are ok but that's basically it). Some schools even go so far as to restrict hair clips and alice bands etc. to certain colours.
Unfortunately this can be a major pain in the rear cuz the school uniforms aren't exactly suitable for a hot african summer.

I should find one of my old school pics and post it up so you can see my uniform XD

Not private here, well of course the private ones also have it, but even the subsidized schools also have them though most of them are a little more lax. My school was a semi-private school, part subsidized and part funded by additional schoolfees.

With me it was obviously government schooling I attended and here its school uniform involving shirt/jumper and shorts/skort with the only other stipulation that the kid wears safe shoes (Enclosed) for playing in the school yard
My school (And my sisters) was loose enough to allow other clothes as long as the colors matched the the official ones

But once we hit high school (12yrs old usually) we get everything above plus our socks and shoes decided as well

When I was in the last yr of school it was casual attire, this is no longer the case and most schools just have a special shirt with all the last yr students names on the back!

I was talking mainly high school/secondary school as well. Though over here even the primary schools have uniforms though they're a lot less demanding.
In my primary school (which was entirely private) I had to wear a white shirt short-sleeved shirt with a badge and then either navy blue shorts or gray longs, whatever I felt like and then blue socks and black shoes (and propper shoes like those that go with a suit, not trainers). Then when it got cold I had a choice between a blue pullover or wearing my tracksuit.

None of that at all actually, as i don't believe in "artificially" adapting the body to an unrealistic (not everyday-life-induced) state.

With that i mean that the body adapts automatically to what obstacles or scenarios one actually meet in everyday life :)

I do often lend a helping hand to moving friends, go the extra effort on the occasional odd jobs, and pack my backpack with ****loads of crap when i am going somewhere since i can never figure out what i will actually need :p
