Wrong picture links?

I was reading the "Perpetual desktop" thread the other day and found some good pictures there. But as I browse further, the supposedly desktop pictures were displayed as screenshots (which is kind of out of place). And as I went further, all the pictures turned into screenshots (like Zelda, etc), but the posts led me to believe that the pictures are supposed to be something else. For example, there's a screenshot but the guy there said "nice picture of Tina Armstrong". I've also found this "phenomenon" on some other (long) threads with pictures in it. Are the links are somehow messed up? Thanks.

hmm... so the pictures with "nice picture of Tina Armstrong" arent actually those pictures? If so then thats due to a little problem we had before which in the end resulted in misplaced pictures all over ngemu

This happened when an error in the attachment table resetted the internal counter for the files to a lower number ... now what does this mean ?

Within the attachment table, every file (and therefor the screenshots) is supposed to get an unique number. Now the post gets just linked with that number, and the forum software then attachs the file/picture to the post directly. That is how it should work at least ...

Now in a crash, it happened that this counter got dropped by a quite high number. Now when someone posted a nice screenshot, the counter assigned it a number which was already in use. As the message board isn't able to attach two files to one post, it randomly took one of the two attachments (actually, it nearly almost took the newer one) and therefor had a high chance of displaying the wrong one.

The desktop thread, however, is quite old. The problem doesn't exist any more as the current counter for the attachments already surpased the old one again - I'm sorry for what happened back then, but we noticed way too late to fix this error again :(

nothing's perfect i guess. at least the forums is still up and running ^_^ hey, it could be worse. i mean, this place could have been dead along time ago if it wasn't for bobbi and the rest of the people.

you cant be expected to fix every problem 1-2-3 Bobbi, so dont worry bout it, besides, it was sometimes hilarious when you see a thread "heres a picture of me" and theres a need for speed picture of a car up there :D
