Did you change the automatic detection method for your computer with some outside program? For instance, depending on how someone sets up the Creative CD detector, it could ruin the automatic detection of PSX disks.

Actually, Nero is the ONLY burning program that I've been able to get working with VGS...CDRWin won't do it alone. Though, actually, Nero didn't do it alone either... :(. What I do is READ with CDRWin and write with Nero...Nero does a blind-write because it's a foreign image, and suddenly VGS can't tell the difference between the copy and the original. Tried with about 8 games, they all worked using this method.

Yours could be a completely unrealated problem but here goes.
On my VGS 1.41, the program loads and asks you to insert a psx disc, even if there is one already in there. If you insert or eject a cd into the drive while VGS is running, the program hangs. I found a work around that might work for you and it might not (you didn't give us a lot of detail). I run a program called CVGS Tester.exe (located in your installation directory) when I want to play VGS. This seems to fix the problem (but it becomes annoying). You have to do this before playing VGS on a fresh boot. If you've run VGS Tester, Run VGS, quit VGs, and then you want to run VGS a second time, you do not have to run CVGS Tester again.
Really hope this helps but its not likely to.

what Rargh mean is not using Nero to burn cd...but installing Nero on the same system you are using vgs(correct me if i'm wrong)
anyway..try deleting tknfx.dat(or something like that...i forgot) in your temp dir or uninstall vgs,del tknfx.dat, reinstall vgs

I've got Nero to, try running CVGS tester.exe before playing.

I've run VGS with Nero installed with no problems. Is VGS the only application that's open? I know that if Nero is left open in the background it'll allow the CD to be read within Nero yet won't allow it to appear in Windows.

Well thx to all of U to have replied.
I m sorry, i haven t read the VGS boards since a long time.
so i ll explain better:
I mean that I m playing w/ the cd rom, nero is installed that s all.
BTW, where can i find the CVGS tester.exe?
it worked well before a time (i think it s when I ve installed Nero but i m not sure)
other thing: it s not a hardware problem. I m sure of it.
I ll try to uninstall Nero and tell u if that worked, but i m not very often on win98.
I use most of the time Win2k (I can t bear those nasty bugs of 98)
and nero isn t working on 2k.
so...
But i ll give it a try

Sry to tell u this all but NERO doesn't affect VGA at all. I have Nero and VGS DOES woek well.
Anyway I had the same problem, i found out that it was because I had desactivated the auto launcher. Maybe it's the same thing with u, because when it was disabled it was always saying "waiting 4 a CD" or "loading" but the game was never starting.

Hello all,
I was having the same problems with my VGS 1.41. It turns out for me it was Nero that caused my probs. I just uninstalled it now when i play a game the cd will actually load :-)
I found that the only other way to get around this for me was to load my older version of VGS, then exit, then load VGS 1.41. Thanks alot guys if it wernt for your posts i would've sold my VGS :-P

loading a previous version of vgs then 1.41 worked, but WHY??? i cant think of a possible way why that is so. does the previous vgs do something to the registry that 1.41 doesnt??

this topic may be old but i just got myself a 16x10x40x burner yesterday, installed it and Nero and guess what, it say insert game cd when i have an original game cd in there. OK i tryed the vgs 1.41mod (to allow for burned games) and it just says loading game forever but it never loads the game, when i remove the cd the prgram hangs and i need to do a manual restart of my computer, can someone either do 3 things
1) tell how i can fix this without removing nero
2) point me in the direction where i can get another different cd burning program besides nero
3) tell me howto fix my cd autodection stuff so vgs can load my games......
thanx for reading this old ass topic....
btw before i put my burner and nero in vgs (1.41) was working just fine....
/edit/ OK i just unistalled all nero software and vgs is still having the same problems, apprently nero has nothing to do with vgs, so now i'm guessing i screwed with my autodetection thingie (whatever that may be) so my request has been narrowed down to 1 (#3) does anyone know how to 'unscrew' my autodetection thingie?

It WAS nero......actually a small dll file that installs itself in the windows/system/isobus/ folder.................i erased it and everything is working fine now................i have no idea how other can get vgs to work with ner installed.....but on my comp (Win ME) its not possilbe...................damn..........now i hafta get that adpatec stuff................hopefully i can find a few warez sites to get it from.............*note* that's not a request.
btw i just rented bof 4, burned it and am now playing it on vgs and epsxe.......yay....now i gota burn ff9........4cds.................dope.
oh and to all those 'u fixing pirate' people i have a real psx.......but my dad doesn't allow anyone to play it or by games for it...............so emus and burned games are my only way out.........

As I wrote above, don't bother with Adaptec crap, use BlindRead/Write.
