Holy cr@p !!! What are the system requiremnts for this beast?

CKemu
June 2nd, 2002, 01:58
check out the www.unrealtournament2003.com, but a PIII 500 with a GeForce II or above is the BARE min!! though most recommend a 1.2Ghz + with ATLEAST 128MB of ram with a GeForce 3!!

So I am gonna be reasonable okay with my Athlon 1.2Ghz GeForce 2 GTS, and 256Mb of ram!!! ahahahhahhaha

keep in mind though that preview shots look usually better than the real game.

even if it looks a little worse in the game, thats still the closest to rl graphics ive ever seen, except for actual rl fmvs that is

holy moly!! This shots are very good and I realized modern PC games are getting better and better in terms of graphics quality. You can tell if you compare this game to Unreal 1.;)

@ Samor : From what i have heard on the UT2003 forums and press info the shots are taken using mid-level settings at an average res!!!.........EEK

@ EfrainMan : Your sis should play online, bots are nothing compared to humans.

i like the doom3 enigne and the dues ex version of the unreal more. but these are nice screens, i doubt my comp will be able to play it well.

Anybody who says that these are the most life-like screenshots they have ever seen needs to look at Doom 3. These are nice, but Doom 3 blows them away.

Demigod
June 3rd, 2002, 07:32
Yes, Doom 3 has some very nice graphics but superior doesn't always mean more realistic. A game/mod like Counter-Strike has more realistic graphics than Quake 3 or UT because it uses a more modern setting and realistically modeled weaponary.

Of course with a more advanced graphics engine you can have more levels of detail and graphical precision. CS is pretty realistic but doesn't hold a candle to RTCW when it comes to sheer realism.

Another UT thread gone towards game comparison :D
I agree that Doom3 blows UT2003 away in terms of graphics tho :)

UT might get more of a fan base owing to it's lower system requirements

I'm agreeable to that.
BTW UT2k3 is going to be more playable and more editable.:p
One of the great things is the new way that level data is managed, which makes levels smaller than ever, which leads to quicker downloads, which ends with a happy Big Red Cat. :)
I took a level editing class in which we used UnrealEditor at a local college just so I wouldn't be completely lost with the UT2k3 editor.

its no use going for an upgrade now, go for one before doom3 is released coz by then u will be getting agp8x based mothetrboards and powerful graphic cards at relatively cheaper prices. thats what i am planning to do.

You guys worry too much. I'm pretty sure the game will run just fine on a TNT2, though not as fast as a GeForce maybe. You may have to tone down certain settings like texture quality, model complexity and some sound settings to run the game at an acceptable speed. I know someone who owns an old decrepit 8MB Intel i740, a card with no proper DirectX 8.x support (the last driver sets only supported DX6.1) but the game still runs WarCraft III just fine, except that some settings have to be toned down, of course.;)

Heh, got me a GF3Ti200 128MB now so I'm not that worried about it anymore :D. Still waiting to get a AXP1800+ though, then I'll have even less to worry bout.

Does anybody know where to get cheap tranquilizers? My sister's been drooling incessently about UT2K3 for some time now, and it's getting annoying. :p

I have P3 667mhz GeForce2MX 400 and when I played the beta it was an old version that only allowed 640X480 with gfx on low.

When I played it, it looked like crap and my comp was running at 40fps!!!

I hate you ut2003! But, if you think about it my beta is like the first beta, (I think) and now it should be more compattable...

cooliscool
August 18th, 2002, 23:16
yeah, epic said the final version wil run on low settings on even the lower 500mhz processors. :)

i don't know what you're smoking, but quake3 runs absolutely perfect on high settings on my k6-2 500@600, GF4mx 420 pci. :eyes:

CPUs that are at 500MHz or lower are considered major bottlenecks if you decide to run new games like UT2003. GeForce2s will survive for a few months (a year at most, until DOOM3 comes out), but your best bet will be to upgrade your whole system right now if you can afford it or just your CPU. Anything above 500MHz should be fine for UT2003, somewhere in the neighborhood of 800MHz and above.
