HW T&L works with Voodoo 5's with the bete drivers IIRC. What that program would be doing would be to map the T&L call to a soft function.

Yeah.. 3rd party 3dfx drivers has an advanced option which can enable HW T&L.. Although I think it's just using your system cpu to do it, hence it's really just software T&L..

Yeah, but it uses more appropriate parts of the CPU I think, as my 3dMark 2000 score went up by enabling it.

Hey everyone my card is a 3D Prophet 64mb pci and i tried playing Spiderman with it and it says that i need a T&L capable card. Is it the card thats wrong or do i need to update the drivers?

since it done in software its better if its called Software T&L not HW T&L

Oh bloody heck!
"Software" T&L is done by the cpu. "Hardware" T&L is on the video card.
Of course genericaly they are BOTH done in hardware. Only difference is that the calcs can be run in 2 different types of hardware; CPU or Video card.

By "hardware" we're generally referring to the videocard hardware. Anything done on the CPU is defined as "software".

That's the problem. It's not correct technical term to say if it's done on cpu it's software. Just say it offloads math off the cpu and on the video card. :) That's correct terms. ;) :) :P :D

i must say i am very impressed with it. the next release will also emulate the vertex and pixel shaders!. now you will see the nature benchmark using our voodoo boards. i might actually try to test it with my geforce 4 MX and might get some high 3d marks next time.
