I thought that I could never enjoy rap until I heard Outkast. Its the only "rap" I like. Of coarse theirs is much more funky a rap than most. Their second album featured George Clinton from P Funk. But its weird because I don't like P Funk either. I seem to keep on finding one band in a genre that I like when I completely dispise every other artist in that genre. Such as Techno I don't like, but Aphex Twin is awesome.

Uncle Clive, those are UK rappers ;) and they all are highly respected. AND Old School Rap are also Good. But todays band such as Limp Bizkit just make the 'RAP' name looks like somekind of Trash ...

Hey I know plenty of lousy pot-heads that hate rap just as much as you do. BTW I live in Nashville, TN so most of my friends have dads that are either in a band or are music producers. This doesn't mean they all like country music(just the opposite in fact). Anyway my point is that they don't like rap because there parents raised them to like music that is played with real instruments not a drum machine.


Uncle Clive, I haven't listened to a lot of Aphex Twin(RD James), but I like what I've heard. "Come to Daddy" and "Richard D. James Album" and some of the ambient works. BTW have you heard the "Kid A" radiohead album? This remind me of some of the ambient Aphex Twin stuff.

Good point. This is alot like country music. Its been recycled crap for years and years, but the really old stuff like Hank Williams Senior is great. As for rap, I've been so repulsed by the new stuff that I haven't bothered giving old school a chance.

Hey Campaign2016, My recomendation to you is a 70's band called King Crimson.They say they are of the "Art Rock Genre". Unfortunately the lead guitar player was such a perfectionist that the band members kept quiting. Actaully the band still performs(with only the guitar player from the original band), but I'm only familiar with their '72-'75 albums. Anyway I recomend the albums "Lark's Tongues in Aspic", "Red", and "The Nightwatch". The last being the best of the three because its live and gives you a taste of what the band can really do. It has 5 band members including the awesome drumming of Bill Bruford(amazing live)

BTW I met Frank Zappa's youngest daughter. Her name is Deva. Only Zappa would name kids Deva, Moonunit, Amit(maybe misspelled), and Dweezle. Anyway I could hardly believe her when she told me that her dad never took drugs except cigarettes and coffee. I do believe her now though. I guess some are just born weirder than others.

dood, 'rap sux' is way too sweeping a statement to make. there is some good stuff out there. i like P diddy, busta rhymes, 311(tho they mix it up), lil kim, beasty boys (ditto as 311) ,wycleff, outkast, control machete, etc...
